Safari for Windows Public Beta Downloads Top 1 Million in First 48 Hours

I really wonder how many people followed the route I did...

1.) Download Safari
2.) Install Safari
3.) Try Safari (for 1 full minute)
4.) Purge Safari from my system

But I'm sure I represent the minority... :)

Same with me at work - crashes after typing in the proxy server.

could not type in a web address

looks like rocket science to run

uninstalled within 2 minutes of scary browser hell

easiest should not be one of their points for this browser

"Safari for Windows Public Beta Downloads Top 1 Million in First 48 Hours"

evidently, quite a few people needed a good laugh.:-)

this isnt to say it wont be a good browser one day in the (near) future. just that it isnt right now, at least not for the windows platform

its rubbish

Experience the web, Apple style, with Safari: the fastest, easiest-to-use web browser in the world. With its simple, elegant interface

whahahahah, internet explorer is better than this, firefox spits in safari's easy to use freezing browser

I only used the windows version in parallels for a few minutes to see how it handled photos and to see what it looked like and if any key features were missing.

Its a beta - they've already responded to some of the faults in 3.01 which is encouraging.

ya but bwana surely when something is beta they can test it on a windows pc before releasing the beta, i mean these faults are on everyday pc's

i understand beta's have problems but most of those problems are found by advanced users or by accident, surely apple test their software before releasing( beta or no beta)

ive never used a beta that didnt work before lol

Of course they tested it on PCs before they released the beta. Not everyone is having problems. If that was the case there would be a much louder outcry from the public. I'm not that concerned about the windows version but having another choice in windows cant be a bad thing.

I'm sticking to Safari 2 until 3 is out of beta and the plug-in developers have caught up.

I've been running Safari on two different workstations for a few days now and I really like it. It grows on me and I find I use it more and more. I has a few features that I like - like the bookmark bar and the font smoothing. It is fast (but not so much faster than IE7 as claimed). I do however find that I cannot read my Outlook Web Mail - it gets as far a taking the username and password and no further. For me Safari is clean, clear and simple.

I downloaded, installed, surfed 2 pages...crash :P firefox for me thanx :)

They claim its the fastest browser - based on what tests?

They all claim they are the fastest - it's called hype. Claiming you're the slowest doest get you far. ;)

I installed it about 5 minutes ago, I took the Quicktime Safari download, since I didn't have Quicktime.

I think it's pretty cool.

Bwana, how do I change the text size? Everything seems bold in Safari ;)

It's fast, really fast, second thing, where do I enter a proxy server? I can't find that option ;) :D :p

My win2k is dying a slow death. safari + 2k - incompatable.

Proxy - try advanced?

It's the font smoothing ;)

Too bad I can't turn it off. The proxy option is greyed out, I can't select it :p

I read somewhere in the apple discussion groups that it shares MSIE's settings at this time. Has it been set up there?
