Setting up your PC to use as a normal phone

Is it possible with a normal fax/modem to be able to answer calls through it and some type of software instead of using a normal telkom phone?

Is it also possible to record the calls with a normal fax/modem?

Anyone gone done this road and have advice?
 
Yes. You can use freeware, shareware or commercial software for this.
Symantec has Talkworks Pro and Winfax Pro. Talkworks is Winfax pro plus
and answering machine and can also do remote voice message retrieval.

Win98 and further versions of Windows have built in faxing capability,
you can set up your PC to send and RECEIVE faxes, however you won't
get any answering machine features.
