So apparently Manhunt 2 for the Wii is a bit too violent for the BBFC, as such
they wont give it a rating which in turn means it cant be distributed in the UK.
Not sure how this affects SA though, do we have a similar rating board?

hmm, apparently it's been rated as "Adults Only" in the US, so it won't be seeing Walmart store shelves any time soon . . .
I think Rockstars cocky attitude just got a big wake up call.

Rockstar has always pushed their gaming violence with GTA & The Suffering titles. About time somebody pulls their plug and gives them a wake up call.
Gratuitious violence cannot be use to sell games and they did get away with previous titles. Cant they do a GTA:Viva Piñata Edition for the kids?

GTA:VP Lol ...! I dig it - you play the sours! Steal sweats and mug Pinata's!
There's a fine line with this stuff, and they have absolutely nothing to complain about. The content is adults only and shouldn't be sold to kids, if they're miffed they can't it just says to me they expected kids to buy it in the first place.

and this when the new die hard 4 movie is launched, as well as some other proper violent movies. 18 only, sure, banned no. them pixels and polygons are more dangerous than watching the movie.
what happens when the movie has more pixels and polygons (cgi) and the game has more fmv? does it get banned because you need a pc to play it?

hmmm... rockstar have always pushed the envelope...
The thing is, no matter how violent a movie is, it's still passive
But with a game you are the one doing the killing, it's active thus it should be more strict.
I mean it's fine if the game is adults only.

Research commissioned by the BBFC showed that ratings for games should be less strict because they're interactive.

When is the last time you heard a 10yr screaming at you whilst playing GoW ? Somehow they end up in the kids hands anyway, so if the parents aren't screening the games then i'm glad another body is trying to shield them.

Exactly. If AO games are kept out of the hands of screaming 12yr olds on live I'll be a happy man :D

Its been confirmed that if the game gets an AO rating sony or nintendo wont allow it on their systems (microsoft would say the same thing) so the only way the game will come out now(unedited) is if it is released on pcs

Banning it Britain or Europe would not make any difference. You just import the game and give it to your screaming offspring.
So now are we going to reduce everything to whatever is suitable for a small child? Anything could fall into the hands of a child so we'd best stick to books, movies and games that are safe for toddlers.

Looks like hte whole Manhunt ban is getting out of hand. Before the whole shebang I thought MAYBE I would get it.. but now I REALLY want it to see what the fuss is all about.... I hope it doesnt get banned in the States.

Well, while not in theory it is in practise. Since it got rated "Adults only" Sony and Nintendo have refused to allow it on their systems. Considering it was developed for PS2 and Wii, that officially sinks it.
Take 2 has "suspended" it's devlopment indefinitely.
If you want to see what it looks like, hop onto youtubem there's some clips of people playing it. From what I've seen (Killing a guy by ripping out his vertebrae with a pair of pliers) it is nothing but sadistic violence, and the grafx are ****.
