These retards have been putting their price up and up and up since they took over health and raquet!

I get these stupid letters every now and then telling me so, oh they are upgrading this, and that and all this BS

My club still has the same equipment that it took over from H&R, the staff it has now are complete idiots, they won't help with anything, they removed the nice food bar downstairs, they are open less time that H&R!
There's nothing new, there are no squash courts at all.

The price now is R279 a month i think, i got more from my R110 a month from H&R...... its time to say cheers

You will soon find out, leaving them is easier said than done.:D

I had come up with a story of moving to a place where there is no Virgin Active Gym and they still want me to pay a cancellation fee. Basically seems like they have calculated how many months I have left on the contract and that is the fee.

oops, wrong forum, can a mod move this to off topic

yea, well i've been with them for 5 years now!

if i was a "new" subscriber i could get a discounted fee.

why honour the existing loyal members anything!

scrap the gym and build urself a homegym. thats what i'm doing

i think our 25m pool stil says H&R at the bottom of it, so much for the R4 million upgrade they did to the centre!

R110 how many years ago? :P

As with anything fee's increase..

Planet Fitness all the way ;)

for how much longer? Planet F seems to follow the original model of Health&Raquet --> locking people in fairly long term contracts for very low monthly subs, not very sustainable in my eyes. Their membership numbers might look good, but how you gonna fund opening all those new clubs? That said, i'm sure the slimkoppe there must have thought about this, history cannot be repeated!

point is, nothing has changed over the last 5 years.

the fee's are a nation wide standard, and 2 out of the 3 gyms VA's I go to have been upgraded VERY nicely, they're probably in the process of upgrading them 1 by 1..

The constantia VA now wants R70/month for child care where a month ago they told us in was a one off fee. So now my 6-month old gets to pump iron for an hour while my wife is in a class.

Needless to say, I get some extra baby time in the mornings now!

fantastic... so i pay for someone else 500km away to enjoy a nicer gym... brilliant!

Get a medical aid with a rewards scheme, it doesn't bite as badly then.

Well, Constantia Virgin is definitely spending their allocated cash on upgrades, the new cardio equipment is rather cool.

That's fine but the child care thing was a big reason to join for the misses.

Now they are taking it away or leaving it for a price 9depending on how oyu look at it).

Is rather harsh changing those conditions, never needed to use the child care, my wife is too lazy to go in the mornings :D

my thoughts on this, IF your wife goes to gym 3 times per week, approx. 12 times per month. You paying R6 per gym session, which in my opinion is nothing.
yes, i know it was free before! :0) how much does a babysitter cost these days?

Yeah, it's damn irritating. It's one thing if I were going regularly, but usage is rather erratic, so it could be wasted money. The free child care was a major selling point of VA.

Complaining here isnt going to fix the problem, try complaining directly to them and find out when/if they'll be upgrading yours..
