I bought a Corex MP3 player for my car from Sybaritic. Upon receiving the radio, there was distortion when listening to FM, but not when listening to MP3's. I immediately notified Sybaritic and was told to send the radio back.
I hardly ever listen to radio and it was a schlep to take the car in to get the radio taken out and I was away for a while, so I took a while before I sent it back. I realised that the warranty was about to expire, so I sent the radio in.
After about two weeks, I got a (apparently new) replacement radio, with a broken LCD. I sent this back, but they refused to replace it, saying that the warranty expired. There is no point in having a radio with a broken LCD, especially if I have to pay for shipping to get the radio back.
Now the radio is only worth about R1K and I don't really feel like taking them to the small claims court, but have considered it.
Any ideas on what I can do?
I guess this also serves as a warning to people out there to make sure you send a faulty device back ASAP and to be wary of dealing with Sybaritic.
I've made 3 purchases from them, but will never again! Of the 3, I've had to send one device back twice, paying once for shipping. I've had the problems with the radio mentioned above and one other device with no problems.
