Critics complain about Cell C’s Free Weekend Call Conditions

Why is it that everyone always complain about things in the telecoms market in SA? This is the best positive news we received in quite some time and yet people complain. We actually get something for free this time round - we sould be happy while it lasts!!!

it's perfect timing for me, i switched to prepaid on Wednesday, and was close to switching to mtn, now i'm definitely staying with CellC. And recharging with R10 a week shouldn't be too hard :P

“Utterly useless if you have a contract / talk minutes which you try to make last the month”

Is it just me or is that a lame complaint. Now you don't have to make your free minutes last all month, duh. You get more. Free!

once u have used your free minutes to take advantage of the weekend thingie, you have to pay for offpeak minutes made during the week, so not too convincing for contract people - easier to just purchase a prepaid sim!

why R10, you can rather do R5, not? unless you need to make more calls on weekdays?

yeah sometimes I need to phone people when they're not online... and I can slowly build a balance that can be used for emergency purposes

For prepaid its fine, can't really complain about R5/week, but they really should have separated it from the normal contract free mins. Btw there's no minimum balance is there, remember with the original weekend offer you had to have a certain minimum balance.

what about during the week when off peak comes into play... This only applies to weekends.

Edit: I removed a naughty word.

Guys See Their Site - Limit Of 120 Free Min Per Weekend
Yes we know. It was the original statement in the other Thread. 120 minutes free. Still a great offer.

I'm also a Contract customer of Cellc, and I'm not complaining! I'm glad about this. Going to get myself a prepaid sim and use that. Thereby I can stretch my 100 minutes a month even further! :D

This is just another example of how great things are. Even with 4 cell operators running around, we are still being ripped off. *sigh*

Thats right, you can use up all your free minutes in the 1st week or two, and talk for hours on the following weekends for free

.......but the price you're going to be billed per minute for the remainder of the month for on-peak weekdays is going to far outweigh any benefit by miles.

Better to by R5/ week and swop sims or use it in an old fone.

We SHOULD have free local calls anytime of the freekin week on land lines. What has this got to do with SA anyway? Our local telecoms situation sucks, so we complain a lot.

In other countries they complain about other things. It's human, it's not South African.

cellc simcard = R10
cell recharge voucher = R5

If you phone another cellc number over the weekend you can talk for 120 minutes !!!! For a once off R10 and R5 a week !!!! How much would those 120 minutes cost normally ???

This is a welcome and a pleasant surprise , take and old cellphone pay the
R15 and you get free minutes , idea for the kids who want to spend hours on the phone with friends , for R5 you can not get anything better . If nothing else take it for what it is worth , the R5 for the 120 minutes is less than the price of a box of cigarettes .

It might look good but It's a kuk deal and it's not free!

If they said "any calls made between subscribers between this time and that time will not be charged for or deducted from your account", that would be more like it.

They've got a jacked-up computer billing system - how hard is it to do that!

Holy Moly has anyone had a look at the prepaid options..........I truly cant make sense out of them.

There is Prepaid easychat standard, Prepaid eashchat allday, Prepaid Easychat Per Second. Then is something called Prepaid steadychat. Incidently they all per second so what the Prepaid Easychat Per second is I don't know.

And each of them has hugely different call rates varying from R2.00 to R3.20 for calls and between R0.34 to R0.80 per sms.

Why do these people have to make it so difficult?

All I want is their free weekend minutes!!!!! But I need to consult an expert in decoding the options.
