Agreed. Anyone that could rape another person deserves the death penalty. Low-lives like that don't even deserve to breathe.

It saddens me to know such people exist in the world... I guess that's why I try to avoid the world :/

The mother only got 12 years too, she'll probably be out in something ridiculous like 5.:rolleyes:

The judge said he took account of Dunsmore's own deprived background and history of being sexually abused as well.

To you guys that want to throw the book at the mother : If this abused girl becomes a paedophile because of what happened to her, will you want to throw the book at the daughter, too?

So do you feel that past abuse justifies an abused child becoming an abusing adult?

What a stupid question and mindset. Of course she must be booked. Rather ask if the government have structure in place to help this individual. You will find out only if it happens to you but my guess is NO!

Yes. Why not?

Evil begets evil.
Because that's not human, nor is it justice.

We throw people in jail for things they are responsible, for. We do not jail people that are medically insane because they do not have the capacity to understand the wrongness of their decisions.

So do you feel that past abuse justifies an abused child becoming an abusing adult?
No. But it's certainly a mitigating factor.

Huh?

lol... I guess what BobbyMac and NoADSLyet are trying to say, is, "Ask a stupid question---"

lol.. So if someone kills you, we let them off because they were "clinically insane?"

I know a number of people that have been raped or molested in their lives - they're above doing the same to others. People choose the path they walk - your reasoning is illogical.

Nothing justifies child abuse but if you were abused as a child you will likely become an abuser (unless you get professional help.) The abuser knows no different (it is how they were raised, and are mentally sick as a result.)

(can never help but notice all the do-gooders immediately shout for the death sentence: me wonders what abuse they received as children?)

My only as children, I saw many a poster change their attitude due to current "Abuse" received as adult by this criminally orientated society of ours.

If they had no concept of right or wrong, you have no justification to blame them for that they did.

Just like you do not smack a baby for soiling his clothes.

No, your reasoning is illogical. Just because some have been raped and molested and still managed to survive the psychological scarring does not mean that all will.

Just like one guy shot in the heart with a bullet will survive, whereas another one will not...

Well you would be wrong; not so much whether the systems are in place rather is it sufficient.

Read a book like The Jigsaw Man to get a clue.

(also Picking up the Pieces)

(they're in your local library)

Relating a baby soiling itself to a person raping/molesting another person due to them having been raped/molested --- how does that even make sense to you?

And what? These people that don't "survive" the "psychological scarring" means that they should be permitted to rape and molest other people? And if you say no, then how do you reason that they shouldn't be stuffed in a jail cell? Because they're mentally ill and deserve an asylum?

I'm sorry, but if someone's too weak to get over feeling sorry for themselves and want to go all emo and then still have the audacity to abuse other people - that's not an excuse. If they go the same route, then they deserve the same sentence - there's no excusing that.

You keep relating things to a physical aspect that people have no control over. If a guy gets shot in the heart (as you said) does that mean he'll go and shoot another guy in the heart because he was? If a baby soils itself, does that mean the person who cleans the baby will soil themselves too? I'm sorry, but your reasoning is flawed.

Blaming "psychological scarring" for the evils that people commit and do - isn't an excuse. A murderer could've grown up in a cruel and murderous environment - does that excuse it? Should they be granted the privilege of a mental asylum too?

If people are that weak, that they would follow the same route, then they deserve the same fate. If you touch a hot stove plate, it is still hot - no matter which hand you touch it with.

I think a person like this should go to a mental asylum, or something like that for a while and rehabilitate.

Niether are really in control of their actions, thus the comparison is valid.

No.

Depends. But yes, mentally ill people need help to get better. Some never get better, and unfortunately that means a permanent stay in hospital if they post a danger to society as a whole.

In this case I can't say whether the mother is medically competent, but just like murdering your wife in a fit of rage after coming home to find her sleeping with another man, having been abused as a child is definately a mitigating circumstance. (That is, the person who murdered his wife in a fit of rage will get a lesser sentence than the person who murdered his wife because he wanted the life inusrance.)

I'm sorry, but if someone's too weak to get over feeling sorry for themselves and want to go all emo and then still have the audacity to abuse other people - that's not an excuse. If they go the same route, then they deserve the same sentence - there's no excusing that.
How absolutely disgusting. I suppose you think that brainwashed individuals are entirely to blame for their actions too?

Do you even know what brainwashing entails? I'll give you a starting point : one of the first things you have to do is to psychologically traumatise someone. Sexually abusing them is an excellent way of achieving that.

You may want to see the movie A Clockwork Orange. Or actually you probably won't; but it will shed some light on the situation that you so callously dismiss.

You keep relating things to a physical aspect that people have no control over. Au contraire.

The heart analogy was merely to demonstrate that people react differently to different circumstances. That you go and falsely try and apply that to the other aspects of the situation is your mistake, not mine.

The baby crap analogy was simply to demonstrate that you can't blame someone for something they have no control over. That you go and falsely try and apply that to the other] aspects of the situation is again your mistake, not mine.

Depends. It certainly would be a mitigating circumstance.

Should they be granted the privilege of a mental asylum too?
Again, depends. Maybe.

If people are that weak, that they would follow the same route, then they deserve the same fate. If you touch a hot stove plate, it is still hot - no matter which hand you touch it with.
So the guy who got shot in the heart and died... deserved to die because he was too weak to live?

the mother deserves atleast 24 years, in a enclosed cell without any human contact, she also deserves public humiliation, unless it affects her daughter. IMO
I'm curious to know what humiliation you can envisage giving her that in any way compares to the humiliation she would have felt as a kid while being abused.

And what? These people that don't "survive" the "psychological scarring" means that they should be permitted to rape and molest other people? And if you say no, then how do you reason that they shouldn't be stuffed in a jail cell? Because they're mentally ill and deserve an asylum?
Incarceration should be exactly that, not a form of revenge.

If people are that weak, that they would follow the same route, then they deserve the same fate. If you touch a hot stove plate, it is still hot - no matter which hand you touch it with.
The same fate? The chain has to be broken: your retribution is simply causing more of the same.

So the guy who got shot in the heart and died... deserved to die because he was too weak to live?
