Concerns about Facebook's terms of use

Good reason not to use the site.
Imo the clause was put there simply to protect facebook from accidentally retaining copyright material. However, I strongly doubt they'll be above using that clause legally if they realise they can profit from something they've stored after one of their users tried to delete it.
I really dislike such policies and now that you've pointed it out, I'm 100% certain I won't be using facebook any time in the forceeable future.
Same goes for uploading stuff to Youtube. I also refused to test Sony's Stargate Trading Card beta for the similar reasons.

Can you cite an example where these terms & conditions would be problematic?
It's a very social networking utility. Not a free plug for your blog/site. I'm sure I'm not alone in saying that Facebook has helped re-unite lost acquaintances and provides a person with a free social workspace which doesn't look like a dog threw up on it (read: MySpace)

To be fair, there is a very simple way to solve the potential problem. Just don't upload anything that you don't want them to be able to use.
I doubt they'd be particularly interested in selling your "Which celebrity do I look like?" quiz results but I can understand the worry that they might sell your personal details.

Exactly. Honestly, if facebook find some way to make a profit off of the drunken photos and mindless prattle that is posted on there, good luck to them.
