Johannesburg - Bombela Concession Company said on Monday that it has appointed approximately a hundred candidates from the Philippines, India and the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region for the Gautrain project, in light of the shortage of skills in South Africa.

Unbelievable indeed. There are so many African (ie. Black) talent in SA, and skills, why do they feel the need to get Asian people in? I cannot understand...
 
The foreigners are not only qualified but have better work ethic- they work harder, longer and deliver better quality.

I agree, I have so many friends (since im black they all are black) who have completed their degrees and cant find work, beacuse of the white mindset

Look at how far this country has come, since we took over.
We created the property boom, the econmic upturn, etc...

Stop trolling. I'm white and I would not appoint you because of your racist viewpoint on whites, it takes 3 minutes in an interview to realise that a person would not be an asset to the company. Your sense of entitlement is annoying me. You claim to be a director, go do your work, stop trolling.

I just wish everyone would stop taking a race side...

The blacks did not create the economic boom and neither did the whites... It was a combined effort through everyone in the nation.

I think it is a good idea to get foreign skilled workers, as many have left the country already, they need to be replaced.

There are enough skilled workers in this country, we dont need any other ppl doing our work.

This country is doing exceptionally well with the local workers alone.

Really? So in your opinion there are enough doctors in the various state hospitals?
 
While we do have technical skills shortage, for projects of similar complexity, we were always going to source the skills from overseas. Its nothing new. Its been happening in Shaft Sinking Projects, Water/Dam Schemes, PBMR etc.

Hopefully, a lot of young people will gain experience from the 'seasoned' professionals that we are bringing here for these projects. Its important for long term sustainability of the Engineering and Construction Industry not just in SA. The world over, there has been an increasing skills gap between old generation and young generation (in Engineering).

Yes there are enough doctors out there, but according to the white ppl they are not educated enough...

Yes, its strange when people join an adsl forum, and they dont have a single post in any of the adsl(or other broadband technologies) sections, but immediately go for the news section
