Government assisted repatriation to Europe & UK, would you go?

If the South African government negotiated a free will repatriation scheme for all legacy Europeans in South Africa to Europe and the UK, would you go?

Robert Mugabe doesn't want white folks there and many South African politicians have made it clear that in their opinion we never belonged here and our history is null and void. I don't agree, but if such a process was started either by the national government or overseas governments (as admittance of the "mistakes of the past"), would you go?

As much as I really love this country if that offer had to present itself I would seriously consider going.
I am certainly not fond of 'pommieville', but as a stepping stone to the rest of Europe it is a sacrifice many would make.
Also think that if the changes in this country had happened 1 generation earlier there would be a lot less white africans living here at the moment.
 
Since my surname is van Zyl I suppose I would need to go to Nederland...I would take on with both hands!!!

Just hope that the I would be able to go as my family arrived in South Africa with Jan van Riebeeck and thats almost 400 years ago!!
 
How many of you have at the very least made enquiries into emigrating? If you have skills someone is bound to want you.
 
Interesting thread. It sort of exemplifies this forum's lack of confidence in the country.

I think the restraining factor for many folks is family. You might be able to go, but what about your family?

If you are getting on a bit - hem hem! - the potential financial losses are too great.
 
Thing is I don't want to go, 5 years ago if someone had asked me if I wanted to leave I would've answered with an emphatic no! Ask me now and I am less quick to dismiss the idea, thats a bit sad really.

I am starting to get my things ready to go to Australia on a 3 year work permit. My mom has already started this process.

A uncle of mine is immigrating to Autralia and everything should be completed by the end of the year, then they can go!!
 
If us Indians were offered back to India I would have to say no. I am a South African and believe that when we get our act together this will be one of the best countries in the world. And no it's not going to happen overnight. But then nothing worthwhile was ever obtained easily.
 
I want my castle back, I do. My family were aristocrats in Germany, 500 years ago my grandfather were removed forcefully. I want compensation. *joke*

I am leaving, so is my sister and her husband, my parents will follow. Sister and husband are going next month, I'm going next year, parents will follow once we can sponsor them. All of us have degrees.

I am leaving because I am gatvol, of the government, the infrastructure, our politics, the crime, AA. Another country and its people will appreciate me and my skills and not insist that I am a inferior white racist because I am white.

I was sick the other day, I had to go to 3 hospitals to wait for a doctor, its just not worth staying here.

I'm white, I haven't been here very long (I think my grandfather has been here the longest and he's only 2nd generation). The infrastructure, crime situation might be a bit better overseas, but for how long?

LOL. Yep I agree. I'm still wondering what everybody is still doing here if they are so eager to leave?

Financial reasons is not really a good argument as SA skills are in extremely high demand overseas.
