SABC gets tough on TV licences

i think missed the part where the police are coming to our doors

i guess there truck that could tell if you have a license didnt work out so well lol
 
its actually very easy.
Start off with a DSTV list and compare names to SABC list. Should chuck a few out.
Even better, make the DSTV fee include the SABC licence and be done.

Now, that leaves areas with a low penetration of DSTV.
Take the suburb, get a density count from the deeds office, do some basic maths and decide what percentage do not have licences. Target those areas.

That leaves only the informal areas - good luck on that one.
 
i hope said inspector comes to my door, as i would be very very happy to give him a lift to the middle of ivory park so he can continue his tour of inspection, as see how long he lives to continue the inspection. Well actually i will just shoot him as murder is R500 bail, where tv license fines are around R1000.
 
if the SABC and the PSL continue referring to the state broadcaster as free-to-air, am I entitled not to pay my TV licence? Free would suggest to me that i do not need to be parting with any money that heads the way of the SABC.
 
Good luck to the poor ass that gets to do my inspection.
I sincerely hope he has "dog whisperer" skills or he may find himself in a spot of bother :)

An aside, i recall the last time someone from the sabc visited me, i was in the middle of huge fight with my g/f of the time - i opened the door and my face was painted with rage - the dude just said - excuse me wrong number and bolted :D

Ha ha - ja, that was a laff n a half

And what if you tell them to come back with a warrant?
 
My friend told me his sad story regarding his TV licence:
1. He paid his licence one month late
2. Six months later he gets handed over to attorneys for not paying his licence.
3. He says, "But I did pay.........."
4. They say "Yes you did pay one month late so we took that for next year's licence. You still haven't paid for this year."

So........

He pays a R700 fine + R225 licence + attorneys fees.

And to top it all off - he doesn't watch SABC channels ever, only DSTV.

A hefty portion of your salary goes to the state for them to change a few more names next month.

Sounds like bull to me.

If it was the official collectors for SABC (starts with an M), then it IS bull. I would fight it.
Since it is a credit agreement and debt collections fall under the Act, a call to the NCR might do wonders.
 
They have to find a TV in my house first :D
I dont think they'd recognise a TV card in a PC if it bit them on the ass
 
So let me get this right.

Some guy arrives at my door, says he is a licence inspector and produces an ID card.
I say so "How do I know you are genuine?"

"No problem" says he. "You can just phone this number on my ID card"

????????

Surely the contact number should be on your licence and freely publicized?

Have the SABC never watched "the real Hustle" on BBC prime Sunday evening?

I think most people would get taken by the clamper scam.


In any case why do a door to door? SABC knows that I have a licence at my address. Why not concentrate on the addresses without a licence?

At my daughter's place of employment, she is the only one out of 8 with a licence.
 
i`m gonna petition my security company & HOA to not let them into our residential estate without official appointments, letters etc

waste there time!
 
What i would like to know is what the inspector can do if i refuse to let him/her into my private residence? Do they have any legal right to search my home if i don't consent?
