Wireless Link between 2 sites

Hi,

I'm looking at making a wireless connection between 2 sites to connect our networks. We are willing to put up masts if necessary.

The Details:
Distance: Approx 1.6km (as the crow flies)
Area: Neighbourhood

The problems:
There are a lot of trees
The geographical location of the to sites (Explained below)

Location of the sites:

.......................................**************
................................**********************
.................X......****************************** Y
...............*******************************************
**********************************************************

X= Location A
Y= Location B

. = Nothing (used to keep the structure in shape) :)
* = The Ground (Earth)

Thus as you can see from the illustration the two sites are on either side of a hill... thus line of sight is impossible.

Any suggestions?
 
Not gonna happen...your best bet is to try and get a middle point somewhere and stick a repeater there. Best location would most likely be the top of the hill.
 
He's right, there are 2 technologies that are possible for connectivity and both of them require line of site. You could get point to point fiber or diginet but it's quite expensive.

Where is the hill? Doesn't it have a mast on it at the moment?
 
Unless your hill is shaped like a pyramid, you're probably going to need a mast on the hill.

Nope is it just natural curves in pta....... No tower....

I'll be looking into that tunnelling machine... :D

I thought it wont be possible.... oh well... It is not of grave importance...

call captain wifi he will have some links to some equipment that will do the job

Also the hill is not that bad..... Over the distance of 1.32km (measured on Google earth) it looks something like this.

It just breaks the line of sight....

Lazer/Infrared with mirrors. You just have to go and wash the mirrors every now and then.
Or ... iznt it possible to bounce microwaves off of stuff?

Hi,

I checked... Last time we did the testing, we made a grave miscalculation... We aimed the wrong way... about off with 35 degrees... :D

Will give you a call tomorrow...
