choice of modems from iburst

hi guys,

I am currently applying for an iburst connection.which modem would you suggest and what are the different reasons for the various modems?

I would be using the connection at home mostly but i also have a laptop which i would like to use. Can i use the usb modem for both?
 
sweet thanks. do they load software onto the computer for the connection?

so basically do i need to load it on both computers?
 
...and don't pay by debit order either or you might be in for a nasty surprise.:eek:
 
You have read the rest of this forum right? You do realise you're signing up for the second worst ISP in SA at the moment? The only one worse is MyWireless.

Seriously, go with another provider. This from someone that previously advocated iBurst.

I too used to suggest iburst to everyone I knew, until end of april, then it was "if you need wireless" and now come june end i suggest to everyone I know to stay away from iBurst.

DSL - cheaper, faster more reliable.
 
right...I'm in the same boat... if I don't have access to a phone line? Who do I go with?

That's the problem in SA. Our Wireless providers can't keep up with the fixed line broadband offerings, and then they turn desperate. To be honest, I'd say you need to get Vodacom or MTN 3G if you don't have a phone line. This too, coming from a guy who previously defended iBurst in every wrong doing they did. :rolleyes:

It's very sad really, since iBurst is a good and very effective system. It's just being managed by incompetent people.
 
I would also suggest not tying yourself up in a contract or paying via debit orders.

And should you go with them, do keep a printed transaction copy (or invoice) for every time you pay iBurst...

P2P on iBurst's heavily throttled. And there's also problems accessing some websites as well.
 
I wont sign a contract with any 'service provider' again. Debit orders are also out, they invoice me, I pay. Simple.
 
If you don't want to sign a contract, buy the modem upfront. I think it's about R1300. You'll have to buy a modem anyway with ANY service provider if you don't want to go contract. ;)
