I think this is an absolutely classic move by Vodacom....
I hate strikers and unions.
Workers continued to picket outside ... the company’s Port Elizabeth office on Friday morning.
I'm not sure why they're striking, but I'm sure the union execs will be paid and still have all THEIR privileges.
Am I the only person that thinks this CWU representative is abusing perscription or other drugs???Sithebe responded, saying: “The shallow legal opinions by Vodacom legal services is nothing else but tactics aimed at undermining endeavours by the department of communication to normalise the situation.” Workers continued to picket outside Vodaworld headquarters in Midrand, and the company’s Port Elizabeth office on Friday morning.
They're striking (134, at the last count) because they want their union to have the same rights as other unions who meet the 30% representation. Their current representation is around 9%.

Wait hang on.... last time- iirc- vodacom didn't cut the cellphones, and a union said vodacom was tracking strikers via cellphone signal...
That time it was a single employee that decided to take a day of paid sick leave to attend to her personal business at a union meeting, and it was put to her that Vodacom's cellphone was attending a union meeting instead of being at home recovering from her alleged illness...Wait hang on.... last time- iirc- vodacom didn't cut the cellphones, and a union said vodacom was tracking strikers via cellphone signal...
Well if these striking employees had any brains, they would ditch the CWU and join another union that has more representation within Vodacom...Sounds like they should go back to being a silent minority.............
I hope they all dressed warm this morning as it is "a cold day in hell".

Well, if it's a company cellphone (or company-sponsored whatevah) then the company have the right to know where their cellphone's going...
But if it's my own cellphone, paid out of my own pocket, then it's an invasion of privacy, plain and simple.
It was most definitely a cellphone and SIM card that belong to Vodacom - one of those working conditions benefits that the CWU members are currently striking about...
