Johannesburg - Ekurhuleni metro police chief Robert McBride was in the High Court here on Wednesday to oppose an application for an urgent restraining order against him.

The application was postponed on Tuesday when it emerged that McBride had been told to be in court on the wrong day.

This time around, McBride was not only in court himself, but was understood to have flown in a high-powered legal team from Durban.

Ekurhuleni metro policemen, Chief Superintendent Stanley Segathevan, Chief Superintendent Patrick Johnston and Superintendent Itumeleng Koko are bringing the urgent application.

They claim to have been threatened, harassed and intimidated since making a report on a car crash involving McBride seven months ago.

McBride has denied allegations that he was drunk at the time and claims to remember nothing of the accident.

At the time, metro police were accused of assaulting witnesses who tried to stop them taking McBride from the accident scene, and of trying to cover up for him.

The order sought is thought to include a provision preventing McBride and 13 other metro policemen from coming with 100m of the three.

Wasn't drunk but doesn't remember anything.
Why oppose a restraining order if you do not want a relationship of some kind, after an obsession of some kind?
Obviously he wants to continue harassing these people.
Seems to me like he is a thug in a powerful position.

He cannot remember anything about the actual accident which is usual in accidents involving concussion.

Bottom line is ... even with the testament of these people who say he was drunk, there is no actual proof, no breathalyser test results and no blood test results indicating alcahol.

Why is this case even continuing without proof?

This case is nothing but a smokescreen while the whole of south africa should instead be taking a close look at the crime figures. A really close look.

Also ... when the governmint loses the case, the governmint (us) is going to have to pay these extremely expensive lawyers. There may also be a nice defamation case. I recon the real reason for even prosecuting this case lies in a deep seated thought pattern running through governmint circles, something like ... try to take us on and we will simply get richer. Mwaaahahahahahaha.

McBride has seen to it that there is no conclusive proof. That's the point of the scandal isn't it?? He allegedly went to find a bent doctor in Durban that would give him a fake certificate.

And I'd like to see the evidence about losing your memory after concussion.
 
He lost his opposition claim. Restraint has been granted. Hope this is the beginning of the end for this villian.

nothing to do with mcbride, but i had a major head-on motorcycle accident in '91, was out for a day and a half, and still cant remember a thing. lasdt thing i remember is starting my bike at the shops. the rest is gone from memory
 
Concussion did occur to me, I think he is lying, lets oust this thug, just harassing the people is enough to make me question his ethics and integrity.

Even nepotism isn't the biggest problem. I find it irritating that they are never accountable and have to be levered off their chair with a crowbar when it all hits the fan.
 
I saw something very strange watching this report on the news last night. McBride walking into court with his hands in his pockets. He reached a sliding door, and just stopped. An aide/handlanger/henchman steps in front and opened the door for him and Bride strolls in.

Its possible that I've got the strong end of the wick, maybe there was a reason McBride couldn't take his hands out his pockets? But I thought it was pretty strange.

I think that Mcbride has always walked a line between the embarrassment he causes and others' loyalty to him. Surely the embarrassment factor will overtake the loyalty factor at some point?
 
Well . . . I wouldn't put my hopes too high in this regard. Most of our government officials are embarrasments, but they seem to be elevated to hero status everyday.
 
He does have a memory problem - he forgot he was supposed to plant the bomb at Natal Command and left it at Magoo's.

Oh wait - that's because he's a coward.

Silly me.
