SA Department of Agriculture Proposal to Legalise the Eating of Dogs.

What the HELL? *sigh* Meat is meat I guess... But.. you know... aren't we a little above eating our pets? O.o
 
There has been a clarification on this story and it was the media misquoting and using "poetic license".

There is no plan to legalise the eating of dogmeat in this country
 
Reporter.co.za seem to promote bloggers who think they're journalist.

*sigh* It is journalism (if one can call it that - sensationalism is more like it) that gives the pukka journalists a bad name.

Did nobody ever tell individuals like this that a decent story is not only one that is easy to read and understand, but one that is based on factual data and not sensationalist bullsh!t?
 
I never knew eating dogs was illegal - it's just another form of protein.
 
It has to do with the slaughter of the meet etc... therefore eating it is illegal and stuff... its complicated.. :)
 
I will gladly support a bill to legalize the eating of braindead politicians before supporting eating pets, we can start at the DOC.
 
Horsemeat is good too as is whale and dolphin. Animals are all equal and if its ok to slaughter a pig (intelligent species) or a doe eyed calf for skin/meat it should be ok to slaughter other animals, although dogs are predominantly carnivorous and it may in fact prove to be unhealthy to eat their meat.

This is a rather repulsive thread (not just your post) but I must just question why you say that pigs are relatively more intelligent than some other species and surely pig meat is likely to be less healthy to eat than dog meat considering that pigs stomp about in and eat their own faeces whereas dogs usually only rub their noses in dog faeces but don't eat the faeces?
 
I would never eat dog meat, but I think it's because I see them as pets, but that doesn't explain why people who keep fish, eat fish, and people who keep rabbits eat rabbits, or don't they ?
