Today I bought Battlefield 2 and I found (not surprisingly) that it doesn't work on my computer. Now I know for a fact that this is as because of my graphics card, or lack of one. All it does is show a splash screen, then the screen goes black for a second, then the game exits without any messages. What I want to know, is it possible to play BF2 on on-board graphics, perhaps with a patch of some sort?
Thanks

What type of on board graphics do you have?

Think you might be out of luck I'm afraid :( Does your motherboard support AGP/PCI-X?

Minimum System Requirements

* 1.7 Ghz CPU
* 512 MB RAM
* 128 MB video card supporting 1.4 shaders (ATI Radeon 8500 / NVIDIA FX 5700 or above)
* Windows XP Operating System (does not work on Windows 2000/Me)

Even if i did run... it would look like one slide show... y did u buy it if u knew your graphics was not supported ?

Hey Mavi i bought my bf2 also on the 11 July and it did the exact same thing.Iam running WinXP and had to set it to run on Win98 compatibilty mode.Its strange because bf2 cracked version works fine , ive got a 7900GT ,as its not a hardware issue.

I will hopefully be getting a new computer soon, with about 1gb ram and a 7600gs or 7600gt. But I was hoping to be able to play bf2 in the mean time. It plays all my other games like San Andreas and FSX.

I had a Winfast board and was playing BF2 with close to full graphics on the onboard 6150 card :p:p:p

San Andreas is quite demanding gfx wise I think so you should be able to run BF2. If it's an onboard nvidia or ATI card try updating drivers :)

It could also be driver settings. Often I find if for instance I go to the nvidia control panel and change every setting opposite to what it is then it sorts out my problem. Then 1 by 1 I change the settings back until I nail it down to one particular setting like extension limit, anistropic optimization or as such.

My friend had wexactly the same prob when I installed it on his box but after downloading the latest patch (1.41 i think) it worked. Try get the game patch first then latest vid card drivers then scrap your PC and get a new one...
