Neotel digging up Jo'burg (pictures)

They started laying cable like that on the edge of the road along Sandton Drive and on Willamnicol aboat 3 weeks ago.

If you're in the Sandton area, you can see quite a lot of the cable along Katherine Str.

This is a sight fore sore eyes . I just hope Telkodemonopolies doesn't come along and 'accidentally' slash its beastly was through NeOTel's fibre...

Bring on the pics of Vodacom & MTN laying fibre as well :).
hmmm. are you sure that first picture is from SA. The truck has a german number plate.
There is what looks like another number plate towards the centre red & white chevron thingy...

I have seen this all over Sandton... I was hoping it was Neotel.. they just completed the job right outside my office today...

Why can't Neotel just drop this CDMA crap and use the fibre to give us FTTH. We've been messed around for too long now..

I think that picture was supplied to Neotel by whoever supplied them with these machines. So, yes, it's probably not a local pic. The two pix at the bottom of the blog post are, however, local.

Also along Rivonia, Bompas road and turn into Dunkeld (where I stay).
Saw the actual truck cutting up the road in front of my house, it's actually quite deep, 30cm I think

Re the camera: metadata can be embedded in an image. Easy way to tell if someone's photoshopped a picture.

That truck strikes me as being specialised machinery. Perhaps it was simply sourced from a german company and the license hasn't been/can't be removed, for whatever reason?

How on earth do you know that?

By viewing the images metadata.

Edit: Quicker off the mark than myself, Leitmotif. :D

Thanks for the update, Duncan, it certainly is a welcome sight.
