Taking yet another ‘hack’ at government’s incompetence

erm ... the eNatis system that was crashed/underperformed
had nothing to do with the enatis.com website that was hacked and defaced.

Also, both implemented by private companies, so no public sector
error there (yet) except for choice of vendor and execution of the
contract with taxpayers' money.

People who leave the keys under the doormat should expect intruders.

Errm the eNatis web site under question requires registration the details of which would be under risk.

Which is exactly why I decided against giving out the enatis.com url the other day via email to someone that thought MyBroadband.co.za could book driver's licence tests for several people.

The fact remains that the enatis.com site, that was hacked, is to some extent integrated into the overall eNatis implementation, and despite what guavamint ignoramuses might think, even a tiny amount of integration can result in the exploitation of a vulnerability, and I bet these same guavamint ignoramuses have never heard of phishing either.

I have heard, NOT on good authority, that the eNatis system is in the process of being re-written. What ever the truth is, where there is smoke ????;)

I know the SARS system is in process... and it has database fields for,Mileage, traffic violations, car registrations (VIN details) , fingerprints, hand-prints, photo, and all is going to be part of the Smartcard ID system

Dunno if this is another development, or SARS is gonna link in to eAnus :D

Well if the government wants to roll out **** insecure systems then they deserve it :rolleyes: What did they expect?
 
The SARS one is gonna work like a charm, be secure and efficient compared to eNatis. Why? Because SARS&Finances is the only gov department with the occasional non-idiot in it.
 
It doesn't matter if only a website was hack (or not) if is perceived as bad in the general public.if a simple little website can be hacked why not the rest of the system? mmm?

Heard something similar... I can feel the heat already.


Btw I missed the enatis site being hacked. They use Joomla so is this bad news for Joomla
