Neotel’s Neolink off to a good start

Neotel is currently trialing their CDMA based high-speed-internet service and is further planning to launch a true broadband offering using WiMax at the end of this year.

Hi RPH72

I think they are still on track with their CDMA service - called fast Internet I think - for August...the end of the year one is 'true broadband' using WiMax technology.

Oh please, Neotel has been one big let down after the other... CDMA is already out the window with Wimax starting to get off the ground.

They have taken far too long to do anything.
 
Anybody know what their leased line prices are like relative to Telkom's?

Let me guess. It's actually 21 companies. And 19 are testing.

This tries so hard to be a good news story, but the important things are so clouded in vagueness and uncertainty, while the unimportant things are so finely detailed, that one is left wondering if anything tangible is happening at all.
 
YEEESH guys be patient. I know they moved their deadline again, and again, but at least they ARE getting there.

Anyway 2, 34, 45 or 155 Mbit/s optical fibre lines for companies is quite staggering... I DONT bELIEVE TELKOM can offerthis.
 
What will their Wimax thing that they will offer be anyway?

Like speed wise, price... I am not too understanding-able about this :D
 
I honestly don't know who would actually get NeOTel's 'fast dialup internet' service when WiMax offers so much more potential - real broadband speeds...but I guess it will depend heavily on the pricing of CDMA2000 CPE pricing compared to WiMax CPE pricing.

Good news about NeoLink but "between 20 and 30 medium to large businesses utilizing their network in either a testing capacity or as full clients" sounds like NeOTel really isn't sure how many actual paying customers it currently has :eek:.
 
How long has Neotel actually been up and running for? When were they awarded their license?

I think they doing their best to get services out, but this wont/cant/dont happen overnight. They are not a fish and chips shop that can be up and running in 2 days.

Slower than schitte and very steady in their let's-roger-our-clients approach to business
 
So it will be 2 years in December.

Guys, are they really taking a long time?

They get awarded the license, and then so much has to be done even before they can start wiring cables, digging holes etc.

Well, AFAIK, not one of the SP's have been given any PERMANENT WiMAX licenses at all. They have test licenses. Not even to mention spectrum.
Any date that any service provider say they can launch WiMAX is highly speculative and an extimate at best.
