Virgin is a waste of time in the Magaliesburg area, rather pay the few extra cents and use MTN who at least have EDGE out here. For a long time now Virgin has been slow, pathetic and useless. As someone who runs a business in the area and has 3 PC's running off Virgin, this is unacceptable. I will be finishing off whatever money remains on my SIMS and then swop them out with MTN, I can take no more of this sloppy service.
There is no excuse for poor service and nor should we have to tolerate poor service. I strongly suggest that Virgin wakes up, provides the consumer (who is their bill payer at the end of the day) with the service they profess to offer and stop finding excuses about this tower and changing that setting etc etc. Many of us gave Virgin a chance, as not all of us enjoy supporting monopolies but enough is enough. Smell the coffee Virgin, your client base is getting ever smaller. Maybe cut the stupid ads and spend that money on developing your infrastructure.
Remember that ad we used to see on TV where the guy would make coffee etc while waiting for his dial up to work, out here in Magaliesburg you might as well just go on leave, by the time you get back maybe, just maybe your page/download is finished!

Seems like you just hit a bad day man. The entire country's internet died yesterday as telkom state of the art network does not seem to have backup LSPs. They lost some edge router thing-magee and low and behold the entire country gets owned by it. Gogo telkom in identifying single point of failure. What morons.

Good decision to move away from Virgin... I have just done the same, moved to MTN. There is no excuse for bad service.

I'm on VodaCom, MTN and CellC / VM wrt data connections, in exactly my preference order.

VodaCom HSDPA coverage much better than MTN's, CellC non-existent.

VM/Cell C's a joke. If you're running 3 PC's off it ADSL might not be a bad idea though?

Vodacom is very very flaky and has been for a long time. Coverage may be marginally better, but Id rather live with that deficiency on MTN any day.
