MTN Data Rates?

Hi Guys

Recently joined MTN and was wondering what the data rates were? I'm currently on the ProCall 120, and was wondering if anyone could give me information on data bundles, etc.

I unfortunatly can't get access to the MTN sites as it's blocked at work. Don't ask why, I have no idea. Vodacom is also blocked. Odd.

That much huh? I thought it was less, or they had something like pay for 1GB get 2GB.... :( Guess not... wasn't there a 9GB thing from Vodacom for R999?
 
There was a special where if you signed up for the 1GB you got 2GB but I don't think that is available anymore. One of the MTN guys will have to comment on this.
 
Yeh, lets see... I need a broadband provider for use at home, and don't have a telkom line, so MTN will be the most convienent, unless overpriced.
 
Go with Vodacom, their data bundles are significantly cheaper and 3G, HSDPA coverage is much more extensive. If mainly used at home, and price doesn't matter?, go with what network gives strongest signal (and/or best use) at home. Use friends' equipment (notebook, datacard, cellphone) to test first.

I've asked this a few times though.... are the MTN/Vodacom data cards specific to their network...or can they be used on any network?
 
My experience with using both is that MTN has the better network, less disconnects and also generally faster, where I live MTN is also better, i hardley get a signal from Vodacom which is strange ebcause i lie close to Sandton City. During the day I travel around alot and I am still of the impression that MTN is better.
 
I'll 2nd that. MTN are faster and more reliable. Check the signal first and smile. They also have a 'bottomless cup' surprise where you buy a data bundle and it doesn't end for the whole of that evening. I can't predict when this happens, but it's working at the moment.
 
I've added a 1GB mtn bundle to my contract...apparently you still get one free :)
 
Can someone tell me how to check my data bundle balance? preferably online?

More reliable, just as fast and works where Vodacom can only dream to.

Where did you get that information? I've just called 808 and was told the special is over.

From the person at 808? :p lack of staffing training when you called I guess, I have 2GB allocated. Apparently the 'special' started on Friday again.
 
Guys let me put it out there for you.

1. The special never ended
2. The rules of the promo is the same.
If you have loaded a 1GB bundle you'll be allocated another 1GB for free but only for a period of 3 months. After that you'll receive only 1 GB again.
3. If you have activated the Data package as a new contract you would receive 2GB worth of data for a period of 24 months.

This means.

If you have loaded a 1GB bundle on the 15/03/2007 it will expire on the 15/06/2007 (3GB data allocated extra only)

Thanks Pitbull, it's still not entirely clear for me, I have never bought a 1GB bundle, if I buy one on 2007/08/07 will I still get a 2nd GB free? And if so, for how many months?

Yes you will

If you load the 1GB bundle on an existing package you'll get 1GB extra for a period of the months

That means 2GB per month for 3 months ;)

So what happens after the 3months? Do you go back to only 1GB for R3xx? :eek:
