US cracks down on devices that let users play pirated video games

I hope they do a raid on the local flea markets.
I was at one of those console shops on Saturday. I wanted to buy a black Xbox 360 Elite controller. The f#cker behind the counter gave me so much lip! So much so that I told him he won't be getting my money and I'm going to buy from somewhere else.

I wish they could ban Daemon tools, Alcohol 120% and especially p2p

Yeah, but its sort of like banning locksmith tools tools rather than just the slim-jims and picklocks. Pirates will ALWAYS find a way.

My biggest moral problem with pirates are those who make a profit from it. Whether it be indirectly through using pirated OS/Office applications or directly through selling pirated DVDs
I buy original pc games because I collect but over the last few years its become ridiculous -- many games used combined protections like FADE and Star-Force etc. Star-Force has got the point where you literally have to have a clean install of XP with just the standard dvd drivers. Anything else the game won't work. It conflicts differently for everyone. After contacting game developers on various forums in the past they simply all point me to NoDVD patch. I've even been pointed to hacked servers from people at Star-Force. 
I understand their need because of piracy. But they also understand that their protections aren't working and causing problems. With the NoDVD patches now on most of the new games I buy -- everything works fine.
Kinda freaky when I notice that some .exes with the protection are close to 10megs while the NoDVD patch is 2megs.

Well... I use pirated shyte, BECAUSE i simply can't afford the real thing. but yes, it's theft. but i do however use alcohol 120% for things like:backing up etc...
Now, piracy in small quantity = ok, but piracy thats happening now is costing millions, and it may end up that we have developers NOT making games and closing down

I get pirated games because I dont want to pay a lot for a game and then it is ****. Games I like I get original disk
Then try the demo before you buy.
I buy original games but I prefer to run my game from the h/d so hence programs like daemon tools serve a purpose for us who don't like swapping in and out our legal dvd's they aren't just pirate toys.
As long as you don't share your game image you have full rights to run the game from h/d if you own the original game.
I'd still call that piracy, because you are denying game sellers income. The particulars of the morals of that are a different discussion, but I'd still call it piracy
