How to connect iBurst to Netgear DG834G Router

you can't use a dg834 for routing anything else other than wan traffic coming through it's own adsl modem

Looked on the net, the wan port is ONLY RJ11 - you need a RJ45.

They lied, you will only be able to use the router as a wireless access point and a 4 port ethernet switch. You need a plain broadband router with an ethernet wan port.

I'm not sure about DP's return policy but if you can swap you should look at somthing like a Linksys WRT54GL or any plain broadband router (just not an ADSL one)

Gambit you took the words out of my mouth. I have the Linksys and it rocks. Never had any problems with it and it took 2 minutes to set up.

The Linksys is a nice router, especially since it has the option of alternate firmware. If you want to stick with Netgear you could try http://www.digitalplanet.co.za/shop/product.asp?stockID=59829 .

If you do want to play around with 3rd party firmwares on the linksys then make sure to get the WRT54GL and not the WRT54G or WRT54GS.

Yeah, but what is the chance Max0991 will get a v4 or older if he buys a new one online from digital planet? Ordering a GL version is a safe bet in my book. I did give the wikipedia page as reference so Max0991 can read up about the different versions and incompatibilities.

If you want cheap and cheerful, try the 54mbps Netgear (http://www.bidorbuy.co.za/jsp/item/Item.jsp?Trade_TradeId=4769047) This works very well for home situations and we have many happy clients using it. The 108mbps netgear is nice for areas that need wider coverage (http://www.bidorbuy.co.za/jsp/item/Item.jsp?Trade_TradeId=4769045).
The WRT54GL is a great router and more robust than the netgears too. Also as mentioned, great that you can upgrade the firmware (though the standard firmware does a fine job if you aren't keen to tech it up). We sell these for R840 INCL VAT with configuration.
