Also haven't been able to get a data squeak from VM all day today -- from the 'Nooitgedacht' mast between Rustenburg and Magaliesberg.

So let's get some answers here:

Ndlovu, you said it's an "isolated problem" and it was in the "KZN area", yet others are having problems in N Cape.

Which is it?

14 ½ hours later and VM GPRS is still dead. I'm still on MTN.
What's wrong with this people, it's more than 1 year now and still they can't fix the unreliability problem.

Also still down in my area of NWP (see yesterday's post), now for the past 24 hours. And it's gone awfully quiet on the VM response front... Let's be charitable and assume they're all up at the sharp end fixing the problem....

If anyone is having hassles, try and force the phone to use Cell C beacons. VC are having big problems and when I put in my VM card, the first couple of connections would not work until I told the phone to only use Cell C beacons. Then it worked first time.

Did you try forcing your modem / phone to use Cell C only?

I have similar problems in the area just out of Krugersdorp. I usually work off the Zwartkrans Vodacom tower but this has been useless for VM. My VC sim works fine on this tower. Switching to a CellC tower also doesn't make any difference, however the CellC signal is not as good 2-3 bars as opposed to the 4 bars from VC tower. This really looks as if VM has a major problem in this region. The Magaliesburg problem is also related. http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=84196

Come on VM - things can't carry on like this!

VC is IMO totally overloaded. I think this has started effecting the VM people. The VC problems seem to be effecting prepaid customers more then contract customers so if you have a VC contract then you are less likely to experience problems. VM might be being put in the same bracket at the VC prepaid customers.

I'm also getting seriously pissed off with this utter bs from Vodacom.
