Will consumers ditch Skype?

One theory put forward on a cnet podcast was that coincident with hooking up the apple iphone to skype last week, the authentication problems began.

Just to quote a phrase there : "With Google Talk, Yahoo Messenger, MSN Messenger and various other VoIP solutions being freely available – and functioning without any problems "

I need to mention that I have more problems with all the other names there than with Skype - I guess they all get some downtime.

Our company converted to LCS (Live Communication Server) which means that we cant use our work domain email address as MSN usernames, because LCS uses it internally (or something like that).

The allowed us to change the usernames online and they said that we will keep our contact lists - which we did, except all those people shows offline. So you had to re-add them all to be able to speak to them THEN, more problems arose with messenger since someone was transferred to my name, when I wanted to "re-add" them, they also had to type a message FROM THEIR SIDE, otherwise their names just simply didn't register on my msn.

Moral of the story - computers / software and even people have down time.
