Don't EVER buy a Cell-C simcard and R10 airtime because you want to make free calls on the weekends. Me and my friend have been doing this for a while, and each weekend is a giant pain to even make a single call, it simply refuses to call. This weekend has been even worse. I haven't been able to call even once, even after trying hundreds of times. These aren't free calls, this is Cell-C making R10 off me and thousands of other people. What's more, it has nothing to do with having a low signal, it simply doesn't work. Except of course when you make a call to another network (in other words, they effectively limit free calls, but calls that make them money work just fine).
 
This works fine with us, we haven't had any problems so far.

And, yes, it do work, we top up with R10 during the week, and we can chat for 2 hours over the weekend.
 
poor Cell-C. You will always get people abusing the system.
 
No hassles for me what so ever, Mind you, i do have a Cell C Contract.

But I have used the service on the weekend both in JHB and Cape town, no issues making calls
 
Maybe Contract people have priority ...
 
it works just fine for us on pre-paid
only 60 min for the weekend for free btw
starts on sat and ends sunday night
 
imagine how many people are making free calls surely the poor network does take strain
