Hi Guys,

I am keen to get the Nokia N95 and I see its pretty much only available for free on the Talk 500 packages.

I normally spend between R700 - R1000 per month on my total cellphone bill on my Weekender package, so I was thinking moving to the Talk 500 package wouldn't be a problem.

However the following bothers me:
Weekender I pay R135 per month for 120 free minutes, which is effectively R1.13 per minute.
Talk 500 you pay R800 per month for 500 free minutes which is effectively R1.60 per minute.

That just seems like a rip-off, surely the rate per "free" minute should be less on the talk 500, what do you guys think?

Where exactly is it free on Talk 500 ? I was at vodashop yesterday and it's R1399 on Talk 500...

I didnt take that into account, thanks for pointing that out Ajax.

I mainly use my cellphone on the weekends. During the week and peak hours, i use the company Land line.

On the weekender the off peak rates are still cheaper then the Talk 500 rates:
Vodacom to Vodacom
Talk 500: R1.02 p/minute
Weekender: R0.95 p/minute

Vodacom to MTN / Cell
Talk 500: R1.20 p/minute
Weekender: R0.95 p/minute

So me as a person who uses the phone mainly during off peak hours the Talk 500 makes no sense at all. And because it makes sense for me to stay on the weekender, i loose out on getting a great phone for free:( Yet I spend in excess of R700-R800 per month on my phone bills!

The off peak rates only kick in after you have used all of the 500 "free" minutes. If you go way out of bundle, then Weekender is cheaper, but on the other hand you could also just get a Talk 1000.

The off peak rate on weekender is cheaper then the price per minute for the free minutes on Talk 500! So even if i am using the free minutes only on the weekend, i would have been better off paying an off peak rate!

Port to MTN ... lol

I think you need to do the Maths then .. see how many calls you actually make during peak times and off peak times and well, balance them out ans see if it's worth upgrading!
