I was working on my MBP last night (off battery power) ... all of a sudden, with about 45 minutes left on the battery according to OS X, the machine just died. Pressing the battery check button at the bottom did nothing, machine wouldn't start up again.
I removed the battery, and pressed the button again ... indicator showed 2/5 power left. I reinstalled the battery, and the machine started ... but I couldn't get past the login screen, as it died again. I was able to replicate it about 3 times before giving up. Tried it again this morning, same story.
Funny thing is, according to iStat the battery health is now 56%, as apposed to 87% yesterday!!
I am thinking the battery might be damaged
