My brand new 14K PC, what would you do/change if it was urs?

Sup Guys:

Ive got 14K to spend on a new BOX, keyboard and mouse:

This is what I have come up with so far:

Intel Core2 Quadro Q6600
intel Bad aXe 2 mobo
2 x Samsung 1024MB 800
BARRACUDA 320GB 7200 16MB S-ATA II (ive got 2x320's im adding to this)
XFX T80G-GHF , geforce 8800GTS
Logitech Cordless Desktop MX3000 Laser
AOpen® 700Watt 20/24-Pin
antec performance one p180
LG 20X DVD Super Multi Writer Black

What do you guys think? Please give me opinions, eg what would you change, what would you rather put in ect ect.
some extra info: I wont be overclocking, and I can buy all my stuff directly from wholsale suppliers.

Change the motherboard to the Gigabyte P35 DQ6 or MSI P35 Platinum or an Asus P35 board. The rest of the components is aaaight

loose the Aopen Power supply. no1, its rubbish no 2, the cables are not long enough for the P180 chassis. Get a Antec 500W or a Enermax 500W. Remember PSU's are about quality not quantity. Also, go for the P182 Chassis, it corrects a few of the P180's design flaws and make cable routing much much easier (hide it behind the motherboard plate)

Also, try to get a 8800 320mb graphics. The performance of the 8600 sucks (damn tiny 128bit memory controller). Loose the Quad for a 6550 Dual Core (dual 2.33Ghz) if you must.

Also loose the intel badaxe board (975 chipset is outdated), there are far better baords available. My personal Favourite is the ASUS P5K or the P5n32.

I agree on the MX3000, it's EOL, replaced with the MX3200.
 
also, have a look at the WD 500GB sata2, it's only R180 more than the Seagate 320GB.
R999 ex VAT at some suppliers for 500GB!!!!
 
rather get to 200gb hard drives, as those big hard drives are a night mare to format...and if one goes you got another to back it up...

rather get a e6550 as there's not to much of a performance difference, and it's better at overclocking...

The 8800gts 320 would be wise, and can i advise that you should get a sli like a Gigabyte P35 DQ6 as they clock better, and later on, when you're pc performance starts to drop, buy another 8800gts 320 for half the price...

as for the ram, i'm not to sure about samsung as i've never used it...

If the rig is primarily for gaming, the quad core wont help at all, rather save some $$$ and get the E6750 (2.66GHz, 1333MHz FSB) and get an ASUS P5K or equivalent mobo, I wouldn't go for the Intel one (I agree with the other guys). What you going to use the rig for?
 
Velly nice rig. 2 things.

1. Rather go for a mobo with a nvidia chipset
2. MX3000 is so 3 years ago. rather get a MX3200 or MX5000. Or a G15 plus laser gaming mouse.
 
I'd suggest a bit more RAM, i.e. 4 gb, but that's just me. Make sure your board supports dual channel (go for the Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R, if you can't afford the RAM. It is still an awesome board)
 
01. Stick with Seagate, WD may be cheaper but they're not that hot. Quality comes first!.
02. I'd go with 2Gig ram modules, if you have to, only get one and buy the other later
03. ditch the mobo, go Gigabyte!.
04. Quite right about the PSU, avoid the aopen.
05. There was a comment about the case, I'd go Coolermaster... if you had the money but the p182 is way nicer!.

Why ??? I'd stick with the Quad core!, and AMD is not an option!
 
For the RAM my personal preference would be to go for Kingmax ... maybe the Kingmax HyperX
 
1. Ditch the Intel Mobo and get Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3P, +/- the same price,but the p35 chipset is gonna give you better "futureproofing" (if there even is a word like that).
2. Choose another PSU, even the "COOLERMASTER iGREEN POWER - 600W" is better (actually not a bad PSU), and it costs the same. Just make sure of cable lengths, like Sapphiron said.
3. Do not take to much notice of what everyone is going on about (including me), we all have our own preferences, just use your common sense, and stick with Intel cpu's. :D:D:D:D:D:D

Lol Kingmax and Kingston are different brands as far as i know....Kingston have the HyperX's - not Kingmax....Kingmax have been known to be an iffy brand as well!

Hi good setup but like everyone else mentioned psu, and mobo and maybe better gpu, but it all depends on what you will use it for, if you gonna game boost graphics not cpu and remember 4Gig or more ram you really need a X64 operating system, like vista ultimate. so 2gig 2 X 1024 dual channel mem is good.

Oh and the comments about AMD, hehe I love the epic AMD vs Intel fanboy bouts! I myself prefer AMD but im not blind to best performance etc, I own a core2duo notebook and it rocks, but come September I am gonna get myself a AMD Barcelona k10, Its gonna own everything! ;)
