Help With L3h Asus Laptop

I need some help or info, I have an old L3H Laptop, Everything is working on the laptop, its only when i plug in the 3G (vodafone) card then the hole system hangs, i dont think it has anything to do with the pcmia slot because if i plug in a pcmia 56k modem it works and does not hang and the 3G card works in my desktop, any one that can give me advise or any software that can make it work will be great thanks.
 
Try reinstalling the card and software. Make sure the system is stable without it and then reinstall. Download better drivers if need be.
 
I did that, the system is very stable when the 3G card is not plugged in the slot, i did reload the vodafone software and just as it loads the drivers for the card it hangs, do you know where i could find drivers for the pcmia card on the asus web site i did not c any, will go have a look again..Do you think that the L3H can run 3G?

Type 2 card in a type 1 slot>? Please explain,

both the cards are working i tested them on my dekstop and they work Merlin U740

do you guys think a bios update will help?

* Type I cards can be up to 3.3 mm thick, and are used primarily for adding additional ROM or RAM to a computer.
* Type II cards can be up to 5.5 mm thick. These cards are often used for modem and fax modem cards.
* Type III cards can be up to 10.5 mm thick, which is sufficiently large for portable disk drives.

As with the cards, PCMCIA slots also come in three sizes:

* A Type I slot can hold one Type I card
* A Type II slot can hold one Type II card or one Type I card
* A Type III slot can hold one Type III card or any combination of two Type I or II cards.

*ahem* as you can see, a type 2 card cannot fit into a type 1 slot.
at least, not without a hammer.

most laptop have one type 2 slot,
or 2 type 2 slots (which can be used to fit a single type 3 card if you want)

Thanks for the intriguing explanation (no really it was) of the type 1 and type 2 air sucking stuff, but it still does not help my problem maybe, do you think the L3H can run 3G?

i know, i was trying to unravel the usual bullcr@p that comes into these conversations.

you are looking at either
1) driver problem...be it for the pcmcia slot or the actual card. One of them is causing a resource conflict
2) bios update, asus is famous for this.
 
I am also having problems with an ASUS A2500H. Damn thing will not switch on. Can't get support anywhere. Soooo if any of you can refer me to somebody that can help, it will be highly appreciated. Cape Town area.

look under the laptop, carefully.

soon, elightenment shall follow, and you shall see a small pinhole, which is a reset switch. if you are lucky it will be labelled "reset", or "rst"

stick yonder paperclip into reset switch, push and hold for 5 seconds.

perhaps you are lucky, and life return to inanimate laptop.

perhaps it is not your day, and laptop shall remain quiet.

life is like that.

Do yo think it will help thou? the bios update..does the L3H also have an magical reset pinhole somwhere?
 
erm, turn it over and look?

just from experience with asus laptops from a few years ago, they all had it.
dont know how it is meant to benefit you though. you have a laptop that switches on, the other guy doesnt.
 
Just thought that it would reset something, really want this freaking thing to work man close to chucking it in the bin
