Anyone used this program yet? If so what are your comments as i would like to know if its a good idea to load it onto one of my pc's before actually doing so.

Many of the drivers have been removed, so there is always a chance that it wont install with your hardware. If it fails during install, just choose option 2 or 4 which will leave out the drivers. Any needed driver can then be installed afterwards.

I got it running about two days ago, and i find it incredibly fast. The host of tweaks, as well as the addition of a number of popular programs make it a joy to use. At the moment i'm running it just in a virtual machine, and i find it faster than my main os (Standard xp install). Strangely, i seem to be using it more than my main os.

Eventually i'll get around to installing it properly. :)
 
awesome, thx dude. prolly only install when i get my new machine as i dont want to lose my ibm programs ( machine came preloaded with no software cd's ).

Can u use it to upgrade the system?
 
What is this Tiny XP??

When I google it all I see are ISO's and links to torrents. Is this a commercial product you can buy somewhere?

Sorry if my post seems stupid but I only heard of this Tiny XP now :/
 
its a tweaked version of xp sp2 with a little bit added to it. All i know about it is what i stated in post #1
 
OK well every google search reveals torrent and ISO downloads only. Even a search on Microsoft.com reveals nothing. So is this cut down version of XP free? How does it work.

I take it that it is free for anyone who owns an XP license? If so I am interested but I cannot for the life of me find any other useful info other than what tinyXP contains :(

Even a google on "buy" and "purchase" tinyXP platinum reveals nothing :p maybe I just suck at google :rolleyes:
 
i think someone just took the original xp cd content and played with it a bit and released it... i really dont know, found it on newshost, saw the comments on how fast their machine is and proceeded to retrieve.

The upgrade functionality was removed. You have to do a full install.

Its an unofficial hacked version of xp. If you have a xp license key then i don't think you are really doing anything morally wrong to install it. ;)

Since its obviously hacked, i wonder if the responsible person remvoed the cd key requirement when installing

All authentication limitations have been removed.

Well im sure no one is surprised by this, but finally after 1.5yrs my preloaded xp home decided to give in requiring re-install. So i start installing, put my auth key in ( under laptop ) and proceeded. Logged in and windows asked to activate so i go "yes". Activated through internet and all was successful. Installed rest of my drivers and rebooted.

Upon logging in, windows now says i have to activate in order to continue, so i go "yes" again. Activation screen comes up and says my windows is already activated so it logs me out. Log back in and message appears.

Long story short, i eventually said **** it and thought id give TinyXP a try. Must say im impressed with the speed. Visuals im still getting used to as its sort of like windows2000 but other than that, no problems what so ever :)

No activation or key :D :D

Its themeable just like xp. Besides using the included stripped down windowblinds, try getting the official microsoft zune theme. Its not to bad, im using it right now.

Its a standard xp theme, so no slow down.
 
Its the registry "tweaks" that bother me. The amount of vulnerabilites you can open that way is frightening.
I personally dont trust anything like that, its so easy to add trojans and rootkits etc to it.
