My phone was stolen recently (:(), it was a 6230i. Luckily a few months ago I backed up everything using PC Suite. My new phone is a 6234 and I also remember updating my PC Suite to the latest version a while back.

My question is, how do I restore my 6230i backup to the 6234?

Click backup and then restore at the bottom, doesn't it work? ;)

Dude, there's no backup icon.

Am I missing something?

There's Synchronise, Connect to the Internet, Install Applications, File Manager, Contacts, Messages, View Multimedia, Store Images, Transfer Music, Manage Connections and Update phone software.

Backup is supposed to be the first icon. Make sure you've got a compatible PC Suite, I'm using 6.83.14.1, which has the backup icon. I loaded it for a Nokia 9500, so I'm sure if it's because the 9500 supports backup and your phone doesn't? You've got me stumped :p

go back to the Nokia site... and re-download the latest version of PC Suite... make sure this time you choose the version for your newest phone... then install it over the other version. Hopefully then your backup icon will re-appear. Next time... do the backup to a memory card in your phone... if it has one.

Well if I back it up to a memory card and my phone gets stolen, what then?

Thanks for the advice though, I'll check out their site now. ;)

I just realised the PC Suite is in the CD in the phone's box. :D

One more thing, where's the folder that contains the actual backup files?

lol... make a backup of the backup to somewhere on your PC! :D

or use a smaller memory card for the backup than the regular memory card that you use.... I have the 128 mg card that came with my phone, but I normally use a 2 Gig card. ;)
