Bandwidth Usage Monitor

Hi All,

I'll looking for a (preferably free) bandwidth usage monitor. I have a few machines using a ADSL line. I have a rogue user/s downloading stuff and can't pinpoint who it is. Do any of you know of some software or affordable router that can show bandwidth consumption broken down by IP address, which you can then see how much badwidth has been used by protocol and port but pref excluse local lan traffic. Would like to log daily, weekly and monthly usage.

Could be Skype VIOP calls.

Would be nice to have it in the router as it would be trandparent but don't really want so spend more money so a SW solution would be OK. Currently using a Billion Router but also have a Linksys available.

You'd have to install it on each individual PC though. If you want a centralised solution you'd have to set up something like Smoothwall or IPcop on an old PC and use that as the gateway for the rest of the network.

Yeah, it all depends on your setup and the complexity of your network. I'd personally go for Smoothwall, but hey that's just me

Simple Billion ADSL Router with seperate Wi-Fi AP with a few PC's. DHCP on Router. Don't want another PC as gateway/proxy (too noisy), and don't have old Donky PC either. Anyone aware of ADSL Router with bandwidth usage monitor built in. Basic QoS not applicable as I don't want to throttle or priorutise traffic, just monitor usage.
