Videos, music, divx, aac, YouTube and so forth on Xbox 360

There aren't I'm afraid, but you can use TVersity to set you PC up as a media server and stream the movies to the 360.
 
Yeah, I checked TVersity but that kinda makes my purchase of Ultimate a bit of a bummer.

Apparently XBox are releasing an update to support XVid and DivX at the end of March

Has anyone got this working? I've tried my darnest on both Vista & XP to get this to work, but my XBOX refuses to see the PC (even tho everything looks sorted on the sw itself). Have followed the instructions to the tee (many times).
 
Tversity transcodes in real time, so the PC requirements are pretty steep.

I use Media player 11 and it works like a treat, (have to enable network sharing and add everything to the library) But I transcode everything first using erightsoft Super.
 
Xbox Fall update leaked

Well the details of the Xbox 360 (rumoured) fall update have been leaked ...

There are a lot of rubbish and minor fixes in the list but some of the things do look very interesting.

IPTV support
Web based flash games straight from the dashboard
picture in picture
clan support...

I'm not sure about the web games on the xbox though, sounds risky....

Also why can't they increase the friends limit now?
 
Awesome, exactly everything I could wish for ;)

The flash games thing is awesome. Little known fact, did you know that the 360 already supports flash 9? The demo discs that run in some stores use it, there's eve na way of setting up your own disc to boot into a flash application.

Another interesting titbit I picked up - the "average" friends list is approximately 25 people. Personally I'd say that's a bogus stat. Are they counting all the Silver "mule" accounts?

Believe it or not M$ doesn't have the best track record when it comes to security ;) I don't think they should open up the Xbox Live network at all.

It is a happy closed network at the moment, once you open it up you are opening yourself up for attack. Wouldn't Sony love that if it happened

An Adobe/Macromedia Flash player security vulnerability that could potentially allow an attacker to execute remote code on a user’s system has been identified. Essentially you could get infected by simply viewing a malicous Flash file within your browser.

Guess MS is being cheap ... again :D
 
Hmm, that's why I find it surprising. I'd think they're touch cautious about OSS (especially if it's GPL'ed) and rather use a commercial, licensable product.
 
Remember all these details are rumoured.... I agree with Doobiwan and would expect them to go with licensed software....
 
Feature I want:

1. A separation of the XBLA games I own and ones that are demos/trails.
2. Xvid/Divx support
3. The ability to copy on and off my XBox's HDD (when it comes to music and videos).
4. RSS Reader
5. Podcast functionality
