Which laptop?

Hi there.

Please, I need advises on choosing laptop.
It will be used for general use on internet, MS office and occasional games (war3 / hl2).


1. Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo Li1818 - R8500
Intel Core 2 Duo T5200 (1,8GHz; 533MHz FSB; 2MB L2 Cache)
2 x 1GB RAM

i think fujitsu siemens is better then other two. tho not very good for gaming.
 
I'm also voting for the Fujitsu-Siemens, but the Toshiba would be the clear winner if it had 2GB RAM.
 
you should look at HP 6710b very good specs and price is also not too bad.
or if you interested in slightly used ones, hava a look at my ads at calissifieds
 
Very hard not to Vote for the Fujitsu considering it's a 17", but the Toshiba will be better put together and will last much longer. after 2 years you won't have a battery left on the Fujitsu

Remember there is usually a reason they are cheap, and it is 9 times out of 10 down to quality and after sales service.

I second the suggestion of the HP. They are top notch quality these days.

The AMD processor will be slightly slower than the Core2, but not by much.

I couldnt disagree more, if you are talking from personal experience then I'd say thre was a problem withe the battery in your machine. I personally own an old Fujitsu that is going like a Boeing, dropped a bunch of times, always getting chucked in a bag and dragged around everywhere. Since I have upgraded it is now a media/web server and it stays running a screensaver 24/7 ...last time I used it on battery power I did a bit of surfing and watched an episode of South Park ...probably about an hour and 40 min all in all. For a 4 year old machne tahat aint too shabby.

Fujitsu is a good make, very nice machines, good solid build quality.

6 Fujitsu machines sold to clients, 3 went bad within a year (replaced under warranty). none of them have got more than 50% battery capacity left (3 years later).

They are still better than Acer though

Toshiba I have not had a single return with about a dozen sold (except for the battery recall)

Out of 2 dozen HP's only 1 return for a faulty drive (replaced under warranty)
