Beijing - A man in southern China collapsed and died after a three-day marathon online session at a cyber cafe, state media reported on Monday.

The web-user, estimated to be 30 years old, suddenly collapsed in front of his computer terminal in Guangdong province, and emergency personnel were unable to revive him, the Beijing News reported.

"According to preliminary findings, the length of time this man spent online might have triggered heart problems," the paper quoted a local hospital emergency medic in the city of Zhongshan as saying.

The paper did not provide the man's name or the online activities he was engaged in.

Worried about growing internet addiction, China's government has taken steps to combat the problem, including forcing online gaming sites to dock the points of gamers who stay online too long.

I bet he didnt die because of the 30 hours gaming... its probably the fact that he ran the same raid for 3 days hoping on his special item to drop...
Then when it finally drops , a ninja stole it giving him a heart attack.
 
Pretty much like the WoW players who stand up after 2-3 days of solid gaming and standing up quickly, suddenly getting a rush of blood to the heart.

I bet adult diapers get sold out frequently at internet cafes :(
 
I did 20 hours of gaming once. Cured me of PCs for a week.

The dude must be really addicted to go 3 days.

People die from lots of things. If it's my time and I die with my toothbrush in my hand, I suppose the media will hype it up as poisonous Colgate or something...or have reports from friends that I had an obsession with teeth-brushing

It's actually scary.

I remember gaming 32hrs straight when I got KOTOR (knights of the old republic). Being a jedi is harder than it looks in the brochures :/
 
what a load of crap. He was prob very unhealthy and had health problems. Just becuase he died at a PC does not mean ints because of the internet. bwhahahaha.
 
We don't have to worry about this happening in south-africa.Most of us will run out of adsl cap long before 3 days:p
