Hi Guys&Gals

Thinking of buying Bioshock - but only have a 6600GT. Will it run? Not too fussed about quality settings - but would like to get over 30Fraps.

Any thoughts?

TIA

It will, but I don't think you'll enjoy the graphics to the fullest.

What processor/RAM do you have? It might work out cheaper to buy an Xbox

P4 2.4C and 512MB(lol)

Oh well looks like a good excuse to splash out on a new system - or XBox as you say

thx

P4 2.4c. I'm guessing u run AGP still . eish

So then its not a case of just getting a new Graphics card and the problem is solved.

U have to buy new Motherboard, CPU, DDR2 ram and also a new Display card too. Prolly new Power aswell.

Unless your going to custom build each component and want a custom system. Go buy a full PC onetime, just make sure the parts inside is Excellent quality (don't buy no-name brands, or poor latency ram, or some weird name 3dcard, etc..etc)

Then u'll be gaming Bioshock !! in Style :>

yip - need new everything - gonna hurt

*EDIT*

Pity - because my system is not slow. If I added more RAM + 8800GTS would be GTG.

AGP being the problem

Know how u feel, gonna be upgrading @ the end of the year. Have had my pc for 5 and a half years now. my rig P4 2.8ghz, 2gb ram, 256mb 6600GT. Cant complain too much as I have had it for such a long time, but I think its now time to get a new machine.

This is the exact reason why I've bought an Xbox. Just wish they'd bring out a usable mouse & keyboard (even a mini-WSAD keyboard suffice) for the FPSs

I have a AMD 3200+ Single Core, 3 gig RAM 2x1gig and 2x512, 120GIG SataHDD and a 256 6600Gt.

I installed the game last night and at 800x600 Med settings with most things off I just managed to get over 30FPS.

I must note that I am using VISTA which sucks for gaming. On XP it should be better. Some even say they can get 30+FPS on 1024x768

Thats why I'm getting a PS3 no need to up grade extra stuff!!!

thx freak bro - any relation to these guys: http://www.freaknet.org.uk/pages01/p02/gl06.html

I have an AMD opteron dual core running at 2550mhz, 7900gt running at 700mhz core/1750 mem, 2 gig ram, and the game plays beautifully on high (DX9) settings.

best I download the trial version - anyone know if its hosted locally anywhere

I'll add my voice here as well - I was in the same pickle - (XP2000, 1Gb RAM AGP 6600) I also opted to go console and haven't looked back. As far as using a controller goes, you adapt (as do the games) it's really not a big deal.

Just a point of order, - you still won't be able to play Bioshock, it's a PC/xbox360 exclusive.

Mmmmmm What graphics are we talking about here? Iv played the game (DX10) and not only is it boring but the graphics are about as good as dx9 if not worse...

What dx9 game are you referring to? The graphics I saw in the GameTrailer.com review looked amazing.

Ah yes, then there's that . . .

What rig did you play it on? And please be honest. The 360 version looks awesome, and on a decent rig the Pc version can look as good. And by decent I mean 8800+.

Even for 8800 users, VISTA makes a BIG difference with FPS. You would probably find that with dx9 it would more then likely double in FPS.

I get 60-70 with my GTS in winxp with everything on high/ultra. Apparently the only real difference between the two directX's are the water and shader effects.

Running great on my C2D E6600, 8800GTX, 2GB ram. Have not tried under Vista yet.

Fudzy, that reviews kind of says it all. If you want to upgrade to play Bioshock in all it's glory - it's cheaper to buy a 360.
