Avast "Schedule Boot-Time scan" should work.
I agree. Nortons is useless. Rather go with AVG Free

Probably, but you don't need to format your system to uninstall Norton

Installed Avast a few months ago and I will never look back. Brilliant anti virus imo!

I installed Avast on my server a while back (when it was still running Windows) and I wasn't too impressed with it

That will work too. In the past that was my only option with those installations of Norton that just did not want to uninstall. But now you get the Norton Removal Tool. It removes ALL Norton products and its traces from your PC. Works like a charm!

NOD32 - The only AV that hasn't missed a single in-the-wild virus since 1998
Plus it only uses up like 5-10MB of system RAM. When I first installed it, it picked up 6 viruses that AVG Free missed. Seriously dude, nothing else compares.
