0800 pop number

Yes a 0800 is toll free! WTF. This aint going to happen

It is possible. Maybe less so now with cheaper broadband but in the past some companies may have had free 0800 numbers for their employees to dial into.

Not just possible but in the early 90's myself and a few friends used to trade these, as you can imagine it was a rather underground scene. I still remember using CNA's numbers, anyone else have such stories? Remember these numbers?

I remember them, mid 90's for me. it was a huge hush hush back then, when eventually it became to popular the companies realized what was happening, and it was no more!

It's true, PriceWaterHouseCoopers has a 0800 number for their employee to dial for 56k internet access, but speed is usually 30k.....
My apology, same as Liberty life, dial back to PWC server to upload/download data when employees out on the field.

I used to use 0800 on I.S back in the day... and I think the Reserve Bank had one too which I did use...

About 7 or so years ago I got a 0800 number, but it only worked for about a month then got stopped. 0800 006 990 I think the number was.

We get up to 128K ISDN on our 0800 VRAS box.

But it's restricted to authorized employees...

My brother once got word of a 0800 number which he used on ISDN. The number got blocked about a day later, but my brother was obviously already connected. Unfortunately Windoze 98 struck about 2 days later and the connection was terminated

you bunch of phreaks :)...I'm so old I actually remember the good ole days of the "lang tickey" ..you tied a string through a small hole drilled into a five cent (or tickey) and when insterting it into a public phone slot you pulled it back out...used to work...also tapping on certain push button (first gen circa 1977) allowed you to phone for free...remember a lot of funny stories:p...and a lot of bills:( when these things didn't work

Yeah you could apparently blow a whistle and take over the line from the operator,
then call for free....

i used them till my isp called me and told me to stop or face the music.

we used to call it;

the black bulldog list or the bulldog list, was long ago when i still used a modem. use the 0800 number that techies / employee related used from the isp and free internet :)

Blue boxing was more american. The whistle was found in captain crunch cereal it emitted 2600hz zone.
