Is anyone else experiencing huge packet loss, website timeouts, frequent disconnects, a sudden and dramatic drop in signal strength (from 90% to 40%) and terrible speeds as low as 93kb/s? It's been like this since yesterday.

GBM, look on the bright side..........................at least it can't get any worse!!!:D

Well, actually Michael, I'm just not used to this kind of service with them. I've been with them for more than a year, and 90% of the time I've had nothing to complain about. This however, is absurd!

Have a look at this.....:eek::eek:

Terrible indeed. You should be grateful that you aren’t connecting to the Gardens tower in Cape Town, where terrible service is the norm…

Yeah had same problems since last night...Towers went offline and online the whole time...and when they were online there was massive packet loss. Seems better now though.

Yeah it looks like things are returning to normal today. But the question is, for how long? :(

Service seems quite good at the moment, but 100% packet loss for 2 days is just unacceptable.

atleast its not a week like most adsl stories i have heard...

Must be their connections/lines since I've had no real problems since I got my ADSL in July, and the few times it was not totally as it should be it was still a lot more stable and faster than iburst.

Well the stories are that when ADSL goes down or has problems, it's often for a long time.

Just ask WKJ?:Midget, they had ADSL before they got iBurst. They had to go about 2 weeks without internet one time (when the ADSL was down)...

Ok let me put it this way, since I got ADSL it's never been down, might have slowed down a bit at times but I would not consider that as "down" or "offline".

EDIT: from WKJ?:beanie's reply it seems I was lucky with iburst(as far as connection goes) and now the same applies to ADSL.;)

Yeah, seems you're lucky :D

I'm no fan of telkom or for that matter any of the various ISPs, but to be fair they are no worse than any of the others when you consider that they supply all of the ADSL connections, besides they fit into the same 3rd world norm as far as business in SA goes.

iburst on the other hand has a tiny percentage of customers compared to telkom, yet they can't even manage their accounts department or offer good speeds and stability to a high % of their customers.

What about customer service, response time to fix a problem (I think Telkom is the worst in that department) ;) and installation times? Surely other ISP's, including iBurst, outwit them by a mile in these categories.

Not really, look at the bigger picture, telkom service ALL the customers as far as lines are concerned whereas iburst can't even supply a consistent service to their tiny amount of customers.

As for the other ISPs, well they would not even exist if telkom did not supply the connections in the first place.

As for "response time", here again I got connected to ADSL the day after I ordered my connection, not quite the norm for all their customers but in my case it was so.:D

Don't get me wrong as I agree that telkom suck, BUT then so do ALL the others, thats just the way it is and will probably continue to be in SA.
