No ‘free browsing’ on cellphone

Cell-Shack however promised that it will use the following claim in future: “Browse for FREE! Only pay for what you download! Vodafone live only. All other websites pay according to the bearer.”

That is still not correct. It still misleads the public into believing that they will now only pay for items that they specifically download, instead of every single picture and word of text that they see while browsing.
 
So I could up-load a few gigs to my wedsite, like that is going to happen, but you still have ppl that think they only pay for downloads

Lol, I had an argument with a 'friend' of mine back in the days of Vlive. He was trying to convince me that Browsing != Downloading. It was rather amusing.

What I don't get is, why is ASASA so busy?! I mean, if I made an advert, I know what limits there are. I would know what is false advertising and all that - it's common sense most of the time! Why cant the advertisers see this too? :confused:
 
It will only stop once the ASA has the power to decree that the advertiser must pay a fine and that he must compensate the complainant for his time and effort at R500 or more per hour.

What do you mean? Browsing VLive! is totally free...and I think they did make a pretty good job of stating that browsing anything else incurs charges...

Critical Mass. A huge amount of people will see the ad, and even if the ASA orders a full retraction, the damage is still done. The solution to the problem is to force the advertisers to pay big fines and to pay for renounce adverts that will be flighted for the same amount of time in the same media.
 
Using the internet, internetvpn or unrestricted APN's on the Vodacom network will incur a download/upload charge at your applicable in-bundle or out-of-bundle rates, i.e. you pay for the data you use in the act of 'browsing' internet sites. This will include any downloads or any other activity that generates data flow.

If you access the Vlive portal via the vlive apn, you can browse the Vlive portal as much as you like and will not be charged for any data used in the act of browsing or even downloading an item (song, ringtone, etc.). You will only pay for any items you've actually bought on VLive.

In other words vlive is a zero-rated apn where you pay only for any content purchased.

So browsing around VLive is free, you then buy a ringtone for Rx and again downloading the ringtone you just bought is free again.
