Johannesburg - The 11 judges of the Constitutional Court have slammed criminals who tried to hide behind apartheid as an excuse for committing crimes.

These criminals who are hiding behind apartheid and the part they played in the struggle in order to make their crimes less punishable, demean the honourable efforts of millions of formerly and presently disadvantaged people who are trying to make a living under difficult circumstances while following the law.

This was the ruling of judges when they rejected the application to appeal by convicted fraudster Schabir Shaik.

Well said. It also demeans the heroes of the struggle by placing them equal with criminals.
