One thing missing from the DA's press release - the DA should have repeated its previous requests for the napalming of Poison Ivy's arse for her [mis]Managed [telecoms] Liberalisation & continued monopoly-protectionisms - this alone cannot be repeated enough times.
Why am I not surprised that Telkodemonopolies is still the most hated South African company for all its lack of service and exorbitant pricing...

Not to take Telkom's side or anything, I find it strange that an organisation the size of the DA would rely on a ADSL as means of connectivity. I mean we advice our clients that though it may be cheaper, it also a "best effort" service, meaning first come first served.
It seems like poor risk management from them, they should have opted for a diginet line for their connectivity as that carries an SLA.

Best effort crap aside, !CASA's ADSL Regulations state that Telkodemonopolies is required to provide an SLA with ADSL.
What does the ANC use for its data lines?

Well they don't actually mention that this is an ADSL line and from my experiences with Telkom's shoddy service they may be talking about a leased line.
They mentioned their Broadband connection was off.
Either way I'm not defending Telkom, I know how they work, I am questioning the risk management of the DA's IT department if those connections are used for mission critical activities.
A diginet line with a high level SLA is by far the best (costly too) option, however if you have mission critical activities running off the lines then cost is justified.

The ANC has always used the trusty 2 Tin and a bit of frayed string approach to their communcations and internet requirements. How do you think Ivy gets her snail mail each morning with her cup of coffee? Yes, it comes along that string and drops it on her lap. If it works for her, why not you?

ITO electronic communications, I expect email is somewhat "mission critical", which makes me wonder why the only propaganda spam I've ever seen from the ruling party, was from a 419 scammer <added>allegedly</added> pretending to be Poison Ivy...

Members pay the party - not the other way around.
The DA probably does have a few employees who need to be paid, though.

Serves them right for providing ineffective opposition and generally being a waste of time, space and O2.
how can any political party, that is not the ANC, provide effective opposition, when the ANC has such a majority in parliament? - we effectively have a one-party state in SA and voters that don't think before voting - if they did then some other political party would have been elected.
