Oh my lookie here

Al Gore talks some sense.

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9JE48XHKG64"]YouTube - Gore criticizes Bush for ignoring Iraq's ties to terrorism[/ame]

WOW I wonder what made him change his mind :o

Some extracts:

the fact that it was an Iraq-based group that masterminded the assassination attempt against Israel's ambassador to the United Kingdom, which occurred in June of 1982

that the terrorists who masterminded the attack on the Achille- Lauro and the savage murder of American Leon Klinghoffer, fled with Iraqi assistance. Nor did it seem to matter that the team of terrorists who set out to blow up the Rome airport came directly from Baghdad with suitcase bombs.

The US government continued to exert every effort to channel assistance to Saddam Hussein, even with evidence that he was not only promoting terrorism, but was also pursuing a nuclear weapons program.

There might have been a moment's pause for reflection when Iraqi aircraft intentionally attacked the USS Stark in May of 1987 killing 37 sailors

and his regime and for convincing himself that friendly relations with such a monster would be possible, and for persisting in this effort far, far beyond the point of folly.

Meanwhile, the US Customs Service was reporting that in 1988, it had marked a notable increase in the activity of Iraq's network of procuring agents and front corporations. A concerted effort was underway to obtain missile technology, chemical weapons technology, and biological weapons technolog

Iraq continued to cooperate with terrorists, that it was meddling in Lebanon, that it was working hard at chemical and biological weapons and new missiles.[/I]

CIA reported to Secretary of State Baker and other top Bush administration officials that Iraq was clandestinely procuring nuclear weapons technology through a global network of front companies.

Did his judgment on foreign policy come into play when he was told that this nation, with a record of terrorism continuing, was making a sustained, concerted effort to acquire weapons of mass destruction, nuclear, chemical, and biological

NSD 26 mandated the pursuit of improved economic and political ties with Iraq on the assumption that Iraqi behavior could be modified by means of new favors to be granted. Well, perhaps so, if this were a state not under the complete control of a single man whose ruthlessness had already been totally apparent.

Iraqi behavior in the past regarding human rights, terrorism, use of chemical weapons, the pursuit of advanced weapons of mass destruction

Instead, it makes an heroic assumption of good behavior in the future on the basis of an interesting theory, namely that Iraq would suddenly and completely change its ways out of a fear of economic and political sanctions.

And yet this was the same season when the Rand Corporation reported that an estimated 1,400 terrorists were operating openly out of Iraq

Well, May arrives, and a terrorist attack on the public beaches of Tel Aviv was launched and thwarted. It was planned by a Palestinian group operating openly in Baghdad with the full knowledge and support of Saddam Hussein

I really do not understand how anyone could receive this flood of information about the terrorism, the acquisition of weapons of mass destruction, the unremitting hostility to the United States

Many of our allies have provided us with evidence of Iraq's persistent effort to acquire these weapons of mass destruction.

We believe that Saddam must be required to comply with the UN resolutions, all of the UN resolutions

I thought it was all just Bush lies

Also there's a broad difference between anti-America and anti-Bush.

What no comment on what Al Bore said?:o

Perhaps you could quote becuase a quick look at your first post I found nothing and I don't bother with the second link as that is a pure leftie propanda site :o

You saw nothing at the first link with the big heading "Shaking Hands with Saddam Hussein: The U.S. Tilts toward Iraq, 1980-1984"? It even has a picture in case you're hard of reading. :)

I don't see a weapon being handed over do you? :o

:)

Justification of the war afterwards does not change the fact that the justifications presented now is not the reason they went to war the first place. Bush told the world Iraq has weapons of Mass destruction. That was his reason. In the end Bush lied to get into Iraq for his own reasons. End of discussion.

Like that would have made a difference?

Yes it does actually, just watched the video now and and alanf discreetly omitted is that it's from 1992!! Seriously, if you're going to be clutching straws using old footage following different circumstances you might as well add the video about Dick Cheney saying it would be a bad idea to invade Iraq

Here you go

How can it be when time and time and time and time again it's proven that everybody from Clinton to the French believed they had WMDs.

Here is Al Gore himself saying it himself again.

"We know that he has stored secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country."

Iraq's search for weapons of mass destruction has proven impossible to completely deter, and we should assume that it will continue for as long as Saddam is in power

Al Gore in the Washington Post 2002

As for the justification as has been shown time and time and time again was resolution 1441 ie Saddam beaking his obligations to disarm.

WOW I guess people can be so thoroughly brainwashed that no amount of facts and direct quotes can help :(

Pfft dicreetly :D It's shows there right on the screen:o.

In any case in my last post I show quotes from 2002

Roll your eyes until you're pink numb nuts. There are no weapons, so they knew **** all and believed a lie. ;)

1992 :D Evidence indeed.

Disarm what? THERE WERE NO WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION. The US and their allies went in on shaky grounds and when it became apparent that they will not find WMDs (cos there weren't any), they suddenly changed the reasons they went in.
WOW I guess people can be so thoroughly brainwashed that no amount of facts and direct quotes can help :(
Direct quotes my ass. They went in for WMDs - didn't find it and tried to justify it on other grounds. Christ mate, you've been on and on and on this pathetic pro war bull**** since you've started on the forum. Enough, you're wrong - and no amount of rhetorical bull**** you seem to dig up is going to alter the facts that the US went into Iraq for one reason, but had to change that reason when their original one proved bull****. Talk about brainwashed - the whole world knows the US ****ed up - the US themselves even admitted they ****ed up - so why bother trying to hang on to nonsensical things like this. Either you support the reason America is still in Iraq or you don't. Simple.

Who knew **** all? France, Gore, Clinton, Germany  Who lied to all these countries? Were all intelligence agencies in on it?

1992 :D Evidence indeed.

You have a problem differentiating between the dates 1992 and 2002. I try I really do :o . I put it in bold so what more can I honestly do .:(

Well you better take that up with the weapons inspectors. They said he wasn't cooperating. Hell even Clinton bombed Iraq after they were kicked out.

So you saying Gore never said what I've quoted? Do you not accept it. Do you believe this is some smear campaign directed by someone like Rove? Perhaps the Military Industrial complex? Mosad mind control device? Do you have any proof that Gore claims those quotes as false. Please explain as my tinfoil hat is unavailable at the moment so I am lost as to why you won't accept it.
