Speeding up your BF2.exe load times

Hi friends (and stoke :P)

I thought everyone knew about this trick, apparently not all... so hopefully more of you will be enlightened

ok so here's the deal, go to the following bf2 folder : " ...\Battlefield2\mods\bf2\Movies "

c) there you'll find 7 *.bik movie files.
3) make sure your browser shows file extensions
vi) rename all the files to .0 except for menu.bik and menu_loggedin.bik.. e.g. you will have Intro.bik.0 and dice.bik.0 and EA.bik.0 and well you get the point
b) now when you launch the bf2.exe instead of watching the whole dice and eagames intro and whatnot, it'll take you straight to the login screen.

cool huh? i figured we spend enough time looking at respawn screens, might as well save somewhere. i accept cash donations.

Ye i was worried about that too, but since okes dont really use cracked copies (since you need a legit key to play online) which sometimes dont cater for missing movie files, it's not too much of a problem for us.

I did worry about 1.41 causing an issue, but so far it hasnt bombed out once for me on bf2 or SF. Once or twice it has taken a while to load even with the movies disabled, but that's been the case even before i've taken the movies out, so i guess i cant get around that.

anyway .... use it/dont use it.

Rather just add the +restart switch to your commandline, achieves the same thing and no renaming of files necessary. And its supported by BF2, so no problems there.

thanks rsachoc, i only heard about the /restart addition to the bf2.exe shortcut this morning. it seems to require alot less PT than renaming the movie files.

right so scratch my bullets (unless you're seriously bored) and just do the right click -> properties mousey thingy on your bf2.exe shortcut and add /restart in between the " "s

Whats easier than renaming is just deleting the buggers - works just as well :D
