Neotel plans ‘next leg’ launch in November

The company reneged on some of its launch dates for both its Enterprise and Residential services, something which did not go down well with consumers eager to see Telkom’s monopoly broken.

Many people lay the blame at the door of InfraCo, but Neotel denies that the state owned entity – which provides it with national connectivity – has any influence on them at operational level.

Of course neotel won't slam Infraco. They are 100% reliant upon it.:confused:
 
RPM - Does someone from Neotel actually speak with you when you get a press release? Cant you ask them for a forum rep?
 
Whatever. Until they don't hit my house with an affordable broadband alternative I don't give a flying fart what they do...

Neotel already has a backlog of goodwill they lost with me. If they want to make this up they have to come in at at least 50% cheaper than Telkom on any equivalent service.

Hi Noswal

These are not press releases, but rather information we receive from sources/conferences which we then use to keep you guys informed about developments. They said previously that a forum rep is on the cards, but only when their residential services are launched.

BTW: Neotel reads these forums and often comment on the comments from you guys at conferences.

It would be nice to see something concrete from these guys as opposed to talk and more talk.

I live literally down the road from their office so I'm guessing commercial release will happen in my area first (although thats always questionable)...

I had an email from the consumer division, that they're hoping to launch in the area in November/December.
 
Can someone please inform them that November is NEXT MONTH!

They better start doing something if they actually want to connect anyone before the end of the world... :(

Neotel had a ton of good will. I ready to be the first one to sign up as soon as they launched. But that was a year ago, when they were supposed to launch. With each deadline that they've so "fashionably" missed, I've grown more an more accepting of Telkom.

If NeoTel wants to redeem themselves, they're going to have to pull an elephant out of a hat and offer uncomparably better and cheaper services
 
Agreed, I had lots of hope in Neotel when they were first announced, but the first deadline came and Neotel was nowhere. The second deadline came and Neotel was nowhere. The third deadline came and Neotel were nowhere. Neotel promised to let mybroadband members in on the trial, yet none were ever chosen and no reports on the trial were ever released. Neotel will have to offer something truly significant for me to even consider them now. They had their chance, I would have gone for a substandard product for a while just to support them, but they have shown time and time again that they can not even deliver on their most basic promises so why should I take a risk with them. I believe now that our only salvation will come when a third fixed line operator starts and actually lives up to its promises.

Now since Neotel apparently reads these forums, I challenge them to give me a call and explain to me why it has taken them so long and why they have missed all their previous deadlines. Even though they were apparently not affected by Infraco. That just means that Neotel themselves have terrible management, which is what we have become accustomed to from Telkom.

Good luck with your Mid November 2008 launch Neotel. If that's not to soon.
 
It doesn't take a couple of days to build a network. Give them some time guys, also it seems they are being smart and securing income from large business first and will then tackle the residential users. The residential users generally require more resources, call centers, advertising, more work, etc.
 
didnt the say just the other day they wont be announcing dates anymore?

On the whole, Neotel has hit the ground walking...
 
Infraco is having major problems with their infrastructure, not because they can't get it up and running, but because of theft and vandalism. Some equipment gets stolen on a weekly basis. But then, maybe it's just a perception ...

Sounds good.

Too bad about the wireless thing though, going to keep their service somewhat inferior to Telkom's for a while. I hope their WiMax implemenation goes well, anyone know exactly which IEEE WiMax standard they are using, the same as Telkoms?
 
Oh well will have to wait and see, not phased today a s ORANGE BOX was RELASED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I mean coming 31 November Telkoms monopoly ends on the SAT3.
Thus any operator AND the larger SPs will be able to get International bandwith directly, not having to go through Telkom.
For example Vodacom or MTN can pay Telkom lease for the Telkom copper they use, but the expensive part, the bandwith they can bypass Telkom.
Thus they can offer much lower packages...remove caps.. etc..

Neotel is welcome, but with other SPs laying fibre everywhere and the upcoming November cut off for Teklom.. prices should come down FAST early next year...
Or do i miss something?

November will come and go and the exclusivity on landing rights for SAT3 will remain intact.

I'm willing to bet everything I have on that! :sick:

Just like Local Loop Unbundling, it's not going to happen very soon...
