Viable MTN, Telkom deal looms

That apparent interest by Mbeki would help to explain why he got directly involved in MTN’s recent squabble in Benin, where Mbeki and Benin’s President Thomas Boni Yayi brokered a settlement over disputed licence fees that had seen MTN’s network silenced.

Interesting how Mbeki can broker a settlement in Benin for a PRIVATE company but he could'nt get Telkom to lower wholesale bandwidth prices for the inhabitants of SOUTH AFRICA i.e. the people who VOTED for him and the country that he is supposed to be LOOKING AFTER.....Thanks for nothing Mr. President!!!!!!:sick:
 
Its CEO, Arun Sarin, told a Goldman Sachs investor conference last month that he would not be interested in buying Vodacom entirely because Vodafone would be obliged to sell a hefty chunk of those shares to black empowerment investors in the near future, and probably at a substantial discount.

The worlds view on BEE...

Are people afraid to invest in SA because they will be forced to be BEE?
 
i don't think they afraid to invest in SA because of BEE, but are afraid that they will have to sell their shares at a very low price
