Nokia 6110 Navigator and external antenna

I use an external antenna (Poynting LDPA A0021-03) to boost reception in my study. It works well with my Motorola V6 Maxx, taking it from no reception to full bars on 3G/HSDPA. However, it does not improve the reception for the Nokia. I must say that reception with the Nokia is better than with the Motorola (without antenna).

What could the reason be? The cell phone casing, OS or something else?

I could have been impatient at the time, or network problems interfered with my testing. It seems that the Poyning antenna also works well with the Nokia, but I could not get the same download speed as the Motorola V6 Maxx.

Will continue testing and make a final conclusion.

SoTrue, How do you connect an external antenna to the Nokia 6110 Navigator? Do you have any pointers on best installation of external antenna for mobile phones?

I live in a sheltered valley in a reasonable densely populated urban area and get no Optus 3G signal within my house on my new 6110. I do get a reasonable signal on the road outside which is at a lower level, which shows that there is are signals in the area. The Optus GSM (2G) signal is almost non-existent in this location.

I am mainly interested in being able to receive voice calls reliably. Web browsing and data transfer on the phone are of lower importance to me.

I use a Poynting antenna with their universal cellphone adapter - see here: www.poyntingdirect.co.za You basically need an antenna, connect that to a cable and connect the cable to the universal adaptor. Best to get the whole kit.

It works by just putting the cellphone on the adapter. I suppose the adapter is a bit clumsy for making calls, but if you're desparate it is sure better than no signal. Consider using the loudspeaker/handsfree function?

I noticed that you are from Australia, so I am not sure what frequencies your cellphone networks operate with. Obviously you must check this before you buy.
