Bought a 4U starterpack @ PnP Hillcrest , Pretoria.

Number is 071 333 1950.

Each time I try to load airtime on above-mentioned sim at an ABSA ATM , the ATM moans "Transaction Cancelled".

Tried at 2 different ATMs - same result.

Where's the problem - ABSA or Vodacom ?

Ta :)

I assume you have not used the SIM before? If you have not, dial 100 and listen the the messages and then try again in an hour or two.

Failing that it could be that the ATM software does not yet support 071 numbers?

The only other time I've seen that message is when I've tried to use my UK debit card to buy airtime...

072 is old and 076 is little old and then 079 is new, now theres 071, eish I cant keep up!:p
072 might be old, but numbers get recycled, a pre-paid SIM card I bought recently and am currently using with PPDBs, is 072, before that I had an 076 number, and my contract numbers are 079 and 082, I don't know anything about 071 numbers but v3g would be the person to ask.

Uhm, I would suggest you buy another sim card, seeing as you just shared your number online...

No problems there - only cost me R 2 for the starter pack.

Gonna use it for data only :D

FYI Anyone: I spoke to Vodacom and 071 is a new valid number range that has been adopted by them. Some places it will not work yet because most Establishments have not updated their systems to accept this new number yet. But I'm sure all is fine now as I am reading this thread a bit late. Y

Spot-on the 071 is brand new, we just recently change our systems to except 071 numbers.

Still not able to recharge the 071 number at an ABSA ATM.
